Twilling Editorials Buy or Sell: Raw, Batista, Cena, Dibiase and Rhodes, Santino, Adamle, JBL and Punk By Rich Twilling Aug 12, 2008 - 11:00 AM Email This Article | Printer Friendly Page Send Us News & Results | Back to Main Listing Today's Rundown: Raw, Dibiase and Rhodes, Cena, Batista, Santino, Kane and Rey Mysterio, Adamle, JBL and Punk Summerslam go-home edition of Raw: I am buying the show even though I really did not like it. Make sense? On a regular week, the show would have sucked. On a PPV go home show, their job is to promote the PPV. Now, I do not love the actual matches for SummerSlam from the Raw side, but I do like the way they pushed the final sell for each match last night. Ted Dibiase and Cody Rhodes regain the tag titles: This is a huge buy. Granted, the title change was simply a backdrop to the Cena vs. Batista feud, but Dibiase and Rhodes worked very hard to try and shine, and it showed. Here's hoping the champions can bring popularity and prestige back to the belts. John Cena: I am selling him. He is so sugary sweet that he is giving cavities to all of those kids who love and adore him. He has passion and I respect the man, but his character needs an edge to it again. He alienates the true target demographic of WWE. Batista: I am buying him for two reasons. The first is the interview he did saying he was disappointed about wrestling Cena with no buildup. That took balls. Secondly, the way he verbally ate Cena alive last night was awesome. I do not love Batista and I definitely do not hate him like Dot Net member "Kent Hrbek" does. However, he can be great at times. Santino's eyebrow: I am selling all of his looks. The Mohawk mullet and the unibrow have to go. I will buy him on commentary last night. His comedy has been more hit or miss lately and last night, he was definitely a hit. Kane kidnapping Rey Mysterio: I am selling this huge. A few weeks ago, everyone thought Kane and JBL would challenge Punk at Summerslam. Now, he has abducted Rey Mysterio and is apparently holding him somewhere? Ugh. Kane must have a "horrible storyline" clause in his contract. Most people wanted him to put the mask back on. Maybe it will lead to that (I hope so). I could see a match where if Rey wins, Kane has to re-mask and if Kane wins, Rey has to remove his. Mike Adamle: Oddly enough, I am selling (for now) because I want him to have a more definitive character. If he is going to bumble and stumble all over himself, let him do that. However, I do not want to see him as a boring guy who makes decisions here and there. Let him do what he does best but do not overexpose him. JBL's drinking challenge to C.M. Punk: I am buying this and I thought it was a nice breakout segment for Punk. He really put over who he was and was able to show those fans who may not know him too well just what makes him tick.
