WWE NXT Hits
Eli Cottonwood gets eliminated: This one should not surprise anyone as the more baffling mystery is, "Why was he hired in the first place?" Eli has a little bit of agility for a big guy, but other than that, he has no speakable character or qualities the fans can get behind. For a guy his size too, it would benefit him to look powerful and aggressive in the ring, which he does not. Logical elimination here.
Husky Harris and Alex Riley: Both men had a good night last night. I think Husky should be the solid number two to Kaval's number one in this competition. His problem is that he is not a lovable fat guy like Dusty Rhodes, he is a fat heel. Nonetheless, his facial expressions are far better than anyone else's and he's good in the ring too.
As for Riley, he's trying a lot to be just like The Miz and while that is not a bad thing, he should develop a nuance or two of his own. He is very polished though for someone in his position and his rise to stardom is a matter of "when" and not "if."
WWE NXT Misses
Percy Watson: Well, if he had a bandwagon, I have jumped off. Yes, he still makes me laugh, but I realized he isn't really trying to be funny and he brings little else to the table. A couple of weeks back when he flipped the switch on MVP and became serious, I liked what I saw. However, he just does too much crap that makes it difficult to take him seriously.
Pros standing on the apron during the matches: What was this all about? Yes, I know they were going for the "Coach coaching the Rookies" vibe, but it came across as a, "Let's empty the arena and have training matches" vibe. What's next? Are they going to stop the match, enter the ring, and make them redo spots? Back down on the floor please Pros.
Michael Cole dislikes Kaval: Speaking of, "What is this all about?", we have this crap. The most annoying part of this is that it almost seems as though Cole is doing it on his own, and then enjoying it way too much. It's like he is taking a huge shot at anyone who is a fan of a wrestler with Kaval's background. Like I mentioned in my report, people getting brave when they know they are safe of repercussions is just cowardly.
Michael McGillicutty: At this point, I have to agree with The Miz's assessment that he is mediocre. He reminds me a bit of Ted DiBiase. DiBiase lacks a lot of what made his dad an all-time great. Sure, Michael is newer and while I am trying to see some Curt Hennig in him, it just isn't happening as of now. He could definitely get there, but it's going to take some time.
Lucky Cannon: Lucky has not had a great past two weeks. He cut a promo saying he wasn't the best last week and this week he said he didn't have any friends. I feel like he should be on a couch in an office or writing to Dear Abby. On top of that, he has the face of a twelve year old. He looks like Mark Henry's little buddy he pulled out of the stands. Lucky does seem to mean well and work hard, so I would like to see what happens if he overhauled his look and character.
