Today's Rundown: Taker vs. Shawn, Edge vs. Jericho, Vince and Bret, Cena vs. Batista, Legacy, Hunter and Sheamus, Maryse, Christian, Miz and Show, Richter
Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels in a streak vs. career match at WrestleMania: I will buy this as the main event of this year's WrestleMania. If Taker is ever going to lose at Mania, it will be this year. Shawn's career being on the line is the necessary hook that will sell this match. I still pick Undertaker to win, but I could change my mind many times.
Edge facing Chris Jericho at WrestleMania: I will buy this as the workrate match of the show. This match will probably be overlooked in favor of Taker vs. Shawn, Vince vs. Bret, and Cena vs. Batista, but I'm looking forward to this one just as much as any of them. This program should carry Smackdown into WrestleMania with a lot of momentum.
Vince McMahon inviting Bret Hart back to Raw: I am buying this too because whatever is going on should materialize next week. I'm a little surprised that all signs point to a singles match between these two, but if they think they can do it, I'm all for it. I still wonder if these two will somehow be involved in the WWE Championship match.
John Cena "earning" a championship match with Batista at WrestleMania: I will sell this for now because in terms of the storylines, Sheamus is getting screwed. Batista's current character is money. If they go with this, I hope they keep it one-on-one for the title.
Randy Orton attacks Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase: I am buying this big time. I like that Orton was one step ahead of his former proteges. It looks like Orton is really getting over as a babyface this time around and I hope DiBiase flourishes at a top heel. I'm curious as to why they are giving away Orton vs. DiBiase, so maybe a triple threat match is on for Mania.
No Triple H or Sheamus on the show: I will sell this. If Sheamus was hurt, then I understand him not being on the show, but at the same time, I wasn't really looking forward to a Hunter vs. Sheamus match at Mania when I thought the WWE Championship would be on the line, so I especially don't want to see it without the belt. If they go with it, I hope Sheamus gets the huge win. I wouldn't be surprised to see these two added to the WWE Championship match.
Maryse wins the Divas Championship: I am indifferent to this and thus, I will sell it because of how horribly the division is being booked. They had this drawn out tournament to crown a new champion and they gave away the final in the three minute television match. The belt means nothing right now.
Christian qualifies for Money in the Bank: I'll buy Christian qualifying and the fact there is going to be a MITB at WrestleMania. With a summer pay-per-view dedicated to the concept, I figured they would skip it at Mania this year, so I am glad that is not the case. Look for Kofi Kingston and John Morrison to join Christian as the favorites to win.
The Miz and Big Show successfully defend their titles: I will buy this but at the same time, worry about whether Miz will make it onto the WrestleMania card. Will he defend the U.S. Title? Will he defend the tag team titles? Will he be in Money in the Bank? Will he be forgotten? Miz has too much going on and at the same time, it still might not be enough to get him on the WrestleMania card, which would be a shame.
NXT hype: I am buying what I saw on Raw. One live appearance and two promos, as well as multiple commercials for the show was solid promotion. I'm looking forward to covering the first show tonight.
Wendi Richter goes into the WWE Hall of Fame: I am buying this because she deserves the spot and because I'm surprised to see her being inducted. Wendi fell victim to the original screwjob and left WWE on bad terms, so I'm glad everyone let bygones be bygones. Richter was huge for WWE in the mid-80s and really helped WWE achieve mainstream popularity.
