Twilling's WWE Elimination Chamber preview and predictions: Will Shawn Michaels end up in the Smackdown match and set himself up to face Undertaker at WrestleMania? Will Sheamus retain his title? Will Edge vs. Batista be added to the show?
Feb 21, 2010 - 01:00 PM |
The following predictions are made without any inside knowledge of the match finishes. I am guessing just like you are.
-Sheamus vs. Triple H vs. John Cena vs. Randy Orton vs. Ted DiBiase vs. Kofi Kingston in an Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship: Interesting dynamic here with three top guys and three up and coming young guys (including the current champion). The nearfalls here will be key because I think Sheamus will retain here. The difficult thing will be how they allow him to retain while making Triple H look strong enough to warrant receiving a one on one championship match at WrestleMania.
-The Undertaker vs. John Morrison vs. C.M. Punk vs. Chris Jericho vs. R-Truth vs. Rey Mysterio in an Elimination Chamber match for the World Heavyweight Championship: Yes, I think Shawn Michaels will replace John Morrison. I'll predict Michaels will be eliminated before Taker, but he will absolutely lose it and hit Sweet Chin Music on Taker anyway, causing him to be eliminated and getting Taker so upset that he will finally accept a match with Michaels at Mania. In fact, I could see this being the "broken glass" moment of the show, with Shawn kicking Taker through the glass. This match will set up Punk vs. Mysterio at Mania with Punk possibly unmasking Mysterio tonight and Rey escaping without his face being seen. Chris Jericho will be your new World Heavyweight Champion and Edge will challenge him at Mania.
-Drew McIntyre vs. Kane for the Intercontinental Championship: This is an important match for McIntyre because it is one of those "resume builders." Drew will retain his championship here in what will probably be a pretty good match. At the same time, they might use this as a bumper between the two EC matches, so the crowd might be completely dead for it. I hope Drew wins clean here because a win over Kane still means something.
-Maryse vs. Gail Kim for the vacant Divas Championship: Given the time issues with only having four advertised matches, hopefully these two are given an opportunity to have a longer and more meaningful match. I think this is Maryse's title to win and she will end up with it. Hopefully they position Gail in such a way that the fans are interested in seeing her chase the champion and eventually win the belt herself.
-(Hypothetically) Edge vs. Batista: I am guessing they have to add something to this show, so I will speculate two possible matches. I would shake my head if Michaels, Edge, and Batista ended up wrestling on this pay-per-view and none of them were advertised ahead of time. If they go with this match, Edge will win after Batista gets himself intentionally counted out. The other possibility is Chris Jericho causes Edge to lose and Edge tries to get revenge (unsuccessfully) later in the show. That would set up Edge as the babyface with something to prove.
-(Hypothetically) The Miz and Big Show vs. Mark Henry and MVP for the Unified Tag Team Championships: Based on their non-title victory last Monday, I could see Henry and MVP getting a shot here. If they do, Miz and Show will retain in a match that is simply there to fill time. I hope they hold off on this and give it proper build up.
