TNA Impact Hits
Hogan and Angle handshake: First of all, I really enjoyed Angle's promo because it wasn't the out of control pissed off Angle. He recognized Flair for what he has always been and actually felt concern for what Styles is doing to his future. The Hogan and Angle face to face was well done too and while the handshake seemed sincere, Hogan is walking the fine line of whether or not he is aligned with Hall and Waltman. Great segment.
A.J. Styles and Ric Flair: When they developed their alliance, segments like these were what I was looking forward to. Again, like I mentioned on DNW last week, I don't want to see a Nature Boy clone, but I am cool with seeing a Nature Boy protege. Styles needs Flair and on the flip side, Flair needs Styles. I haven't seen either guy look so motivated in a very long time.
Mr. Anderson vs. Jeff Jarrett: I'm not sure what's up with the back and forth involving Jarrett, but I like him as the sympathetic babyface who has the company's best interest at heart. I like Anderson too and felt this was a necessary win for him. Jarrett is a legit top guy and I felt this win gave Anderson some momentum. I hate to say it, but with Styles being the heel World Champion, Anderson would make a great X Division Champion (see below).
Dissension between Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff, and Mick Foley: Bischoff is the best character in TNA right now and Hogan is not far behind. It is great wondering where their allegiances lie. Foley has been great too in the past couple of weeks. I didn't believe for a second that Foley attacked Bischoff last week and while I loved Hogan and Bischoff together in the old WCW, I am really enjoying the teased dissension between the two.
Brian Kendrick and The Motor City Machine Guns vs. Amazing Red and Generation Me: Although there was nothing horribly memorable about this match, I listed it here because this match is a look at the future of TNA. All of these guys could work main events for this company and at the very least, steal some pay-per-view shows. I hope Hogan and Bischoff realize what they have with these six men.
TNA Impact Misses
Lack of immediate followup to the Screw job: It was almost as though the people in TNA felt the Screw job was a bad idea, because given the "magnitude" of it, it should have been the primary focus of the show. That being said, the Hogan and Angle segment was solid, so it wasn't all bad.
Earl Hebner's explanation to the Screw job: Hebner admitted to taking money from Flair to determine the finish of a championship match and he got suspended? I know this is entertainment and not a sporting event, but at least they present it as such, thus, Hebner should be fired and looking at jail time.
Doug Williams vs. Amazing Red: This isn't so much the match as it is how TNA always butchers this briefcase thing. WWE has one briefcase and we always know who has it. TNA has four of them and they seem to be around the next time it is time for that particular pay-per-view. So, Big Rob won the briefcase and Doug Williams can just assume ownership? On top of that, Red has been a solid champ, but why not use this opportunity to put the belt on Anderson. He could make it a main event title again.
