WWE Superstars Hits

Christian vs. Paul Burchill: Let’s face it; this is WWE Superstars, so the criteria for what constitutes a hit or a miss changes a bit. Had this match been on ECW, I probably would have really focused on the disappointment that Burchill, someone I feel could be challenging for a top belt, lost a short, throwaway match to Christian. On the contrary here; I enjoyed the short match. I think they can revisit a program with Christian and Burchill down the line (whether or not it is for a championship).

Randy Orton reveal: It was strategic for WWE to have Orton reveal why he said “I quit” so quickly at Breaking Point on Superstars rather than Raw. They needed somebody to win the John Cena vs. Orton match, so WWE went with Cena. However, they did not want to trumpet the fact that their top Raw heel said “I quit.” Thus, Orton called it a “business decision” on Superstars. Orton hardly mentioned it on Raw and even his Legacy mates kept mum about it. Orton explained himself for logic purposes, but he did it on a show not many people watch.

Zack Ryder on commentary: I think this is something WWE underutilizes. I realize not everybody is cut out to sit at the announce table. However, when a champion has a new challenger and a new feud is about to begin, why not have said challenger on commentary during one of the champion’s match? Now, Ryder may have toned down his character a bit, but I was perfectly fine with it.

Dolph Ziggler defeats Finlay: Finlay still carries enough clout as a top veteran to warrant defeating him as something important. While most people are still upset that Ziggler vs. John Morrison was left off of the Breaking Point pay-per-view, this was a nice win in the meantime for Dolph.

WWE Superstars Misses

WWE Diva’s Corner: I never thought I would want to see less of the divas, but low and behold, here we are. They should call this segment, “No, I am not single and even if I was, I would never date you (insert random teenage boy who writes me on Facebook here).” I still laugh every time I read comments on some of the pages of the ladies. “Hi Kelly, you looked great on Raw on Monday. I’m Trevor. Please message me back so we can chat sometime. Thanks! You’re beautiful. Love, Trevor.”

Chris Masters vs. Santino Marella: Again, I have never been a huge fan of Masters, although I would like to get on board, but damn, they brought the guy back and sometimes I forget he is even on the roster. He rarely, if ever, wins a match on his actual show and he has yet to be given mic time since his return. Push or not, I still want to know why he is back and want someone to try and me care about his efforts.
