WWE Superstars Hits

C.M. Punk vs. John Morrison: When I write the Hitlist for this show, it is a match like this that I am looking for first. Going into the show, you know a match with these two names is going to pass every test. You have two big names, one or both of them are younger/newer main event talent, and they are both very good workers. Of course, they did not disappoint and the fans watching should have been pleased. Plus, the finish was admittedly pretty cool.

The Miz on commentary: When Todd Grisham checked in on commentary, I was wondering who would be joining him. It was cool to see The Miz on the mic for John Morrison’s match. I said it a long time ago; Miz could be and should be a main eventer. I’m almost afraid he was too good on commentary, but hopefully he just secured himself a career after he is done wrestling (a long time from now).

Mark Henry vs. Chris Masters: First of all, I like that this match had a meaningful stipulation. The winner of this match earned a spot in one of the main events at the next pay-per-view. While I never expected Masters to have a shot here, they put on an enjoyable match. Funny, I never thought Masters had “it” his first time around when he got a significant push, but this time around, he isn’t getting pushed and I think he should be.

Jack Swagger video: I mentioned last week (and I don’t even remember who the video was for) that I liked the placement of these videos on Superstars. Main event guy, upper mid card guy, mid card guy, or lower, showcasing a member of any of the three brands on this show is effective. Utilizing the most of their television time is a key.

WWE Superstars Misses

Vladimir Kozlov vs. Tommy Dreamer: Dreamer can work an entertaining match with the right opponent. However, Kozlov will never be that opponent. I think Shawn Michaels could get an enjoyable match (or story) out of Kozlov, but I don’t know who else I could say that about. Kozlov looks good standing alongside Ezekiel Jackson, behind William Regal, but beyond that, I just don’t know how good he can be.
