WWE NXT Hits
No soda drinking: The first time they did the obstacle course, everyone came to a screeching halt when they had to drink soda for three minutes. This week, they kept the wrestlers out of the crowd and concession stands, which were the only two positive things of the whole obstacle course.
Rookie videos with Pro opinions: On a week of few hits, I'm going to go ahead and add this in. I love these videos and the fact that the heels praise the faces and the faces praise the heels. We get the genuine opinions of the Pros and it always provides a series of interesting comments.
WWE NXT Misses
Obstacle course challenge: These competitions suck. What else can you say? None of the wrestlers are ever going to walk a balance beam or jump over walls in an attempt to impress the WWE Universe (yeah, saying that just never feels right). If the goal is to get the viewer to turn off his/her brain, the contests work.
Alex Riley vs. Lucky Cannon: Lucky has been hyped as a potential dark horse in the competition. He receives solid crowd reactions and is doing a decent job on the show. So, why job him out in a minute? That made very little sense, unless they were short on time. I think Lucky will be safe from elimination for a couple more weeks, but this show did him no favors.
MVP and Percy Watson vs. Cody Rhodes and Husky Harris: The MVP and Percy Watson stuff at the start of the show was just awkward. This match was positive in the sense that it allowed the Rookies to work a longer match, similar to last week. However, the match itself left a lot to be desired. Also, why in the hell did Percy not break up the pinfall on MVP?
Overall show: With next week being an elimination week, this week needed to bring something special and it left its backpack at home. Two forgettable matches, a weird talk show segment, and a bad contest is not the formula for a good show. Hopefully things pick up next week for the elimination.
