WWE NXT Hits

Cody Rhodes vs. MVP: I was not expecting a twenty plus minute match between two Pros on NXT. It was not a great match, but it was still a solid bout featuring two good workers. It was also the guys writing this show pretty much taking the night off. "Put Rhodes and MVP in the ring for 24 minutes. Show." I don't know if it will end up meaning anything, but at least it was a way to watch some wrestling without much else to worry about.

Kaval and Rhodes back and forth promo to start the show: Kaval's promos are hit or miss, but his back and forth with Rhodes was really well done. We know now he can hold his own in that type of a promo. I'm not sure how that interaction led to MVP (not Kaval's Pro) wrestling Rhodes, but this was a good segment for both Cody and Kaval.

WWE trivia contest: I liked the idea. Jim Ross always talks about knowing your wrestling history and those who came before you. Plus, at least it was a wrestling related contest. No swinging on ropes, no dance contests, no other ridiculous BS. Wrestling knowledge. Not a great showing for Alex Riley, but a fun segment nonetheless.

WWE NXT Misses

No elimination: Last week, there were two eliminations on the show and this week, there were none. Why are there three finalists on this show? Normally, there are two people, teams, or whatever in the finals of any competition. Why not eliminate one this week and have a one-on-one competition next week to sway the voters at the last second?

Lack of knowledge of Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 12: Michaels vs. Hart in an ironman match at WrestleMania 12 is one of the most famous matches in WWE history, and nobody knew that. The question was, "Who faced each other in the ironman match at WrestleMania 12?" Kaval and Riley had no clue. McGillicutty finally buzzed in and said "HBK." Then at the last moment, he guessed "Bret Hart." Yes, he got it, but I can't imagine an easier question. Kaval knew the lyrics to Demolition's theme music but did not know this match? Bad.
