TNA Impact Hits

D’Angelo Dinero debuts: Say that five times fast! Dinero was made out to be a huge star here and he came across as a huge star. Despite his heel like mannerisms and cockiness, the fans wanted to cheer him. I think TNA rushed to have Suicide attack him this week, but nonetheless, the Impact debut was overall very positive.

Bobby Lashley: Lashley looked more like a star on this show than he ever did in WWE. I’m still not 100% sold on him, but I am putting my pen to the check.

Announcement of the TNA Women’s Tag Team Championship: I like this because there are a lot of talented workers on the brand that have nothing to do unless they are feuding over the TNA Knockout’s Championship. Of course, when trying to present new titles, it would be best to not have the division’s current and only champion to be comedic Cody Deaner.

Taz becomes the new color commentator: I was never a big fan of the Mike Tenay and Don West announce team although they did have their positive moments. I think Taz is the best color commentator in the business and the change in the booth was a welcome one. I thought Taz brought realism and credibility. On top of that, I think he made Mike Tenay a lot better too.

A.J. Styles and Sting: Styles was whiney at times during his promo, but his overall mic work was very much improved. Sting was fantastic here and this was the first time I had seen him without his face paint and sunglasses at the same time. The entire premise of this was a little ridiculous, but if it leads to Styles winning the World Title, I’m all for it.

Beer Money vs. The British Invasion: Very entertaining tag team match with perhaps the most popular team in the company with Beer Money. I would like Beer Money to be the team to dethrone Booker T and Scott Steiner for the TNA World Tag Team Championships because that could be presented as a huge win for anyone.

Samoa Joe vs. Homicide: Did anyone else want to see fifteen more minutes? I know I did. I enjoyed the match although it was too short. It was also a wasted opportunity to make the X Division Championship main event worthy again. If they built to this match and gave them the last two segments of an Impact broadcast, both men and the belt would have been elevated greatly.

Opening segment: The cat and mouse game continued between Kurt Angle and Matt Morgan but Morgan seemed to become the teacher in this segment rather than the naïve student. Of course, nothing came of it (read below), but this segment itself was very good.

Motor City Machine Guns: Okay, it makes zero sense to have two of the best workers in the company shilling themselves on a fake infomercial. However, they were funny and should be commended for their efforts. On top of that, I saw their interview at the Comic-Con and Shelley mentioned loving playing video games and disc golf, so I laughed when he mentioned those things here.

The Beautiful People: Madison Rayne never belonged there. Hopefully she is gone for good and my girl Velvet Sky and Angelina Love can go on to become the first TNA Women’s Tag Team Champions.

Overall show: A drastic and noticeable improvement compared to past efforts. TNA could be on the brink of something here.

TNA Impact Misses

Logic of the main event: Okay, Matt Morgan made it seem as though he was one step ahead of Kurt Angle the entire time, but he proceeded to wrestle and lose the match? Nothing happened. He listened to Kurt and he lost. Whatever momentum gained by Morgan earlier in the show was decimated here.

Eric Young and Hernandez: Young wants Hernandez in the World Elite because Hernandez is Mexican. I am guessing Hernandez will not join and instead we will see various matches with Hernandez vs. WE members over the next several weeks. I was enjoying his push near the top of the card.
