Shore's Weekend Promo: A return after brief hiatus, TNA and WWE creative teams, TNA name change...No it isn't...Yes it is...No it isn't, Zack Ryder, and the greatest Iron Sheik Tweet evah!
May 14, 2011 - 02:26 PM

In the spirit of my beloved WCW Saturday Night, welcome to the Shore Weekend Promo. Every week I will mention, the good, the bad, the ugly, and whatever else I want to talk about across all of wrestling.

Opening Series (My overall thoughts on the week): Sorry for not cutting a promo for two weeks. My wife was winding up the days of her college career and then graduated this Thursday. I am very proud of her. She put in a ton of work and I spent the last two weekends making sure she was distraction free going into finals. It all paid off, and now life can get back to normal. I will miss sleeping with a co-ed though. Thems the breaks as they say down here. Let's get to it.

Pops (The best of the week):

-A huge pop for WWE Smackdown's creative team and their writing the most intriguing stories of the week. From Christian and Orton to Khali and Jinder Mahal to Sin Cara and Chavo Guerrero, there are many more compelling reasons to tune into Smackdown than Raw next week. And when you throw in the good work they did with Sheamus and Mark Henry, the writers had a very good week.

-I can't believe I'm saying this, but a mild pop to TNA creative as well. Call me crazy, but the show seems paced better and the new storylines that just popped up two weeks ago are better than the ones that were scrapped. Don't get me wrong, it's still a shit sandwich. Everything feels unstable because of the sudden change, and then there is the asinine problem of nobody knowing their name—more on that later. But this week it seemed more like a shit sandwich with mayo! Let the "Vince Russo has been replaced" speculation begin.

-Finally, and I realize I'm late on this, a thunderous pop for the U.S. Military in general, and Seal Team Six in particular. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Osama Bin Laden getting the Double Shot makes us suddenly safe or ends the conflicts we are in, but it sure did feel good to hear the news. I'm not a person who believes in the death penalty, but it's times like these I just choose not to argue the point. Thank you boys. You did us a solid.

Heat (The worst of the week):

-OK TNA fanboys, let's see you defend this one. How is it that nobody in that company has any idea what their name is? Is "TNA" dead? Or is the TV show just dropping the "TNA?" Who the hell knows? Hogan, Bischoff, Jarrett, Angle all have different answers to the question. I don't think it makes a bit of difference going forward that they have had this confusion, but it sure does make you look bush league. Actually, that's an insult to the bush league. I guess I'll have to join Michael Cole in sensitivity training.

The point is, how can you consider a company that seems to be unable to even agree on what their name is to be anything other than mismanaged? This is just another flag in the ground that points to the fact that Dixie Carter and company have no idea what they are doing. They have enough wrestling minds around them to keep things afloat, but they are not improving in leadership.

And here's the sad part of that truth, the TV show has turned around the past two weeks. It's still TNA booking, but something feels different. Things seem more organized, more planned. And the ratings were up a lot from last week. But does anyone think they can sustain that with a management team that doesn't know…well…its tits from its ass? I sure don't.

Tweet This (Best Tweets from "The Boys"):

-Johnny Fairplay: Tuned into @TNAwrestling to see Chyna's tits. Wowzers!

-CM Punk: watched episode 13 of @ZackRyder and his web show. Well, more like I watched Arn Anderson watch it. Arn popping for nothing made my night!

-Steve Corino: Great success at the Chiropractor. Feel great. Doc told me I had the hips of a 60 yr old....but my boobies only look 25. I'll take it.

-Dolph Ziggler: Target cashier was singing Moon River -asked him for a tuna colada on the Underhill's bill & thanked him very little -he was confused

-Obligatory Iron Sheik Tweet: i throw the osama in f---ing river, make the shark eat his dick and balls.then i kill hulk hogan f--- his ass make him humble (OK, it's not from this week, but come on.)

Go Home (The Big Finish, Whatever I Want):

If you haven't seen the latest Z True Long Island story with Zack Ryder, then you are missing out. This show somehow gets better and better every week. The "smart" jokes crack me up, and Ryder really shows how smart and funny he can be. He has a ton of charisma. I have no idea why WWE hasn't pulled the trigger on this guy.
