In the spirit of my beloved WCW Saturday Night, welcome to the Shore Weekend Promo. Every week I will mention, the good, the bad, the ugly, and whatever else I want to talk about across all of wrestling.

Opening Series (My overall thoughts on the week): Wrestling has been all over the map this week. Raw received a very mixed reaction. Impact was better than usual. Smackdown was like watching someone walk who had one foot nailed to the ground. And then ROH finished the week with a very cool old school debut. And that's not to mention Matt Hardy's rehab, Vince McMahon's meltdown, or Dolph Ziggler's broken/not broken jaw. I'm not sure if I'm happy or sad that this week is over, but it sure has given us a lot to talk about.

Pops (The best of the week):

-If you grew up watching Saturday night wrestling at 6:05 ET on TBS and you saw the new ROH show this weekend, you probably had the same out of body experience that I did. I'm sure that nostalgia will wear off eventually, but for the first night it was very cool. There has been a lot of thought put into this new show, and everything I have seen so far has paid off. They had one minor error on the new show, but it wasn't a structural error so no real harm done. I am excited to see how this show goes each week.

-Zack Ryder's big rub on Raw this week was not only good for a worker who I think deserves a chance, but also a lot of fun. I am always skeptical when celebrities visit Raw, even those who are self-proclaimed fans. But Hugh Jackman did a nice job of putting Ryder over and making his appearance actually mean something in the WWE universe.

-Since starting on this push, Mark Henry has been the most consistent thing on WWE TV each week. How good has he been? His promo work this week on Smackdown was probably my least favorite thing he has done in this run, and yet it still entertained. A lot of people still doubt Henry, and I don't understand why. He is doing the work of his career right now. You have to judge him on what you see in front of you, not what he was a year ago. And right now, he's the only thing I really care about seeing.

Heat (The worst of the week):

-Matt Hardy started his 90 day rehab this week, and Jason and I have received some strange criticism from people because they point to Matt's drug arrests as being the motivating factor to go to rehab. I do not doubt for a moment that his pending legal issues as a whole were a driving factor in his decision to enter treatment. But I also do not doubt that Matt Hardy needed rehab. And at the end of the day, his reasons do not matter. They may not bode well for his long term sobriety, but that is not the discussion here. Matt Hardy will be a different person when he is clean, and who knows how he will do with decision making then. All that matters now is that he has a chance to be sober, something he did not have before entering rehab.

-As a piggy back to the Hardy story, I would hope that readers here at Dot Net would be smart enough not to trash Reby Sky for her actions as some have done on various social media outlets. But if you happen to be one of those people, let me state, with unequivocal certainty, that you are a moron and should be banned from ever watching or reading about wrestling. Reby Sky saved Matt Hardy's life. And if you don't understand that already, then you just aren't smart enough to ever understand.

Go Home (The Big Finish, Whatever I Want):

I just did a fun podcast with Jason Mann over at for his Wrestlespective Radio where we discussed the main event of Starrcade 1986, Nikita Koloff vs. Ric Flair for the NWA World Title. Nikita filled the spot for what would have been Magnum TA had the latter not wrapped his Porsche around a telephone pole and ended his career. I believe in my heart of hearts that the landscape of wrestling history would be wildly different had Magnum wrestled, and won, this match as planned. Sadly we will never know for sure.

What we did get however, was one of the most dramatic babyface turns in history. When Nikita Koloff joined Dusty Rhodes in the cage to face the Four Horseman that night in Charlotte, everything changed. If you've never seen it, listen to this crowd when Nikita attacks Ole Anderson.
