Shore's WWE Smackdown Hitlist: Alberto Del Rio vs. Dolph Ziggler steal the show, AJ Lee misses with her promo, so does Big Show, but Show recovers in main event, Los Matadores and El Torito

WWE Smackdown Hits

Alberto Del Rio vs. Dolph Ziggler: By far this was the Hit of the night. Del Rio and Ziggler showed in their feud that they can do great things in the ring together, and they reemphasized that point in this match. Saying all that, I find it staggering that Ziggler is in the pre-match show with Damien Sandow. There's a chance there for a very good match, but Ziggler's in-ring skills, coupled with the crowd's reaction to him, proves he deserves better treatment.

Big Show vs. The Shield and Randy Orton: A very mild Hit as everyone did a good job in this, and the crowd was hot for Daniel Bryan's run in at the end. I still can't help but feel like we are getting shampoo wrestling: lather, rinse, repeat; from everyone involved. The Baton Rogue crowd loved it, as do many other crowds, but the biggest problem with Cena (outside of not taking opponents seriously) was his "been there, done that" air. Why do you think they are called the "Five Moves of Doom?" So even though this worked tonight, WWE has to be careful about fans becoming complacent to these top card acts.

WWE Smackdown Misses

Los Matadores: I screwed up and forgot to write the Raw Hitlist this week, but if I had, the Matadores and El Toritio would have been the same miss then. Besides the act being ridiculously cartoony, unlike other cartoony acts, I don't think the kids are going to buy into this. No doubt El Torito will get some reactions early, but my guess is he will become a joke very quickly. The biggest sin though is that the Matadores, two wrestlers who have been entertaining in the past, are the odd men out. Everyone wants to talk about the bull. No one is talking about them.

Big Show: Baton Rouge was a hot crowd who popped for Big Show when he showed up, but as soon as his promo started they checked out. The moment I had feared has come to pass: I don't think the fans care about Big Show's redemption. The pops for him hitting Triple H are getting thinner and thinner, and eventually no one will care, even if he actually does go through with it. I honestly feel like Battleground is the line for Big Show. If he crosses it, I don't know if he can return from it in this storyline.

AJ's promo: A rare miss for an otherwise talented Diva on the microphone, AJ's promo was poorly conceived and poorly delivered. It was almost like a "mean girl" who was too drunk to deliver her lines. AJ still has good charisma and is the most over Diva on the roster by a country mile, by she failed to deliver here. That's a shame too because I don't think Brie Bella has enough going on to make their matchup at Battleground exciting, and they needed a good promo from AJ.
