Shore's WWE Smackdown Hitlist: Dancing with the WWE Stars, Dolph Ziggler vs. Dean Ambrose, the Cutting Edge, Paul Heyman speaks, and more

WWE Smackdown Hits

Cutting Edge segment: A good talking segment from everyone involved and a definite hit. It was weird when Randy attacked to watch Edge just stand there, but a bad neck is nothing to mess with. This was the only real build for Night of Champions. WWE seems to think that this feud is enough to sell the PPV. I disagree, but they did everything they could with this segment to try. Daniel Bryan's attack on Orton still didn't sell me on the show, and I doubt it sold many others. We'll find out for sure in a few months when the numbers come out.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Dean Ambrose: A good, albeit short, match and a Hit that gives me great hope for what they can do this Sunday. Ambrose is more of a talker than a fighter, but he is no slouch in the ring either. I didn't like the six-man that came out of this as much. It had some hot action, but I couldn't care less about the Usos right now so their entry made the whole thing seem staged.

Paul Heyman promo: Another brilliant hard sell from Heyman. It never ceases to impress me how man times they have explicitly told you to buy the pay-per-view. I honestly think it's more than all the promos for all the other shows by all the other wrestlers combined. It's a total Hit.

Alberto Del Rio vs. Ricardo Rodriguez: Obviously this wasn't a classic in-ring match, but it did entertain me so I gave it a Hit. Ricardo plays the sympathetic babyface well, and he did a good job here. The crowd got hot for his brief offense, and it was put together as fluky enough to not hurt Del Rio in the process. I don't think it put any actual heat on the Del Rio vs. RVD feud, but I still enjoyed it.

WWE Smackdown Misses

Big Show and the Shield: I'm of two minds on this one. On the one, I enjoyed the fight and the way it played out. On the other, this is stupid within the current storyline. I don't understand why Show just stood there only to fight back. I don't understand what happens to him now. We came into the show wondering, and they left us wondering still. I don't even necessarily understand the beat down. They took his pay, so the beat down not only seems unnecessary, it adds confusion because what did Hunter expect him to do, take it? That leads us back to my original question about standing there. Confused yet? Me too, that's why it was a miss.

Ryback: Big pop for RD Evans on Smackdown from me, but the Bully Ry character continues to be stagnant. Whatever plan they have for him, it needs to hurry up and get here. He's putting me to sleep. I even liked the setup. I thought Ryback was very good delivering the promo. In fact, I admit I was impressed with the delivery. The content is what is killing him, and it's killing him completely. I get the feeling no one really cares if someone gives him his comeuppance at this point.

Divas: This segment was awful. I don't mean everyday off the shelf awful, but special delivery you have to sign for it awful. The wrestling bored, then the lame finish, then AJ could have just left. Awful.

Dancing with the WWE Superstars. If I have to explain why this is a miss you…kill yourself. I will say Khali's English was understandable.
