The following predictions are made with no inside knowledge of the planned finishes. In other words, I am making educated guesses.
The Rock and John Cena vs. Awesome Truth: This is the big main event, and really the reason for most of the PPV buys. It is not, however, the best story. It has been clunky getting to this point, and that makes picking the results incredibly hard because anything seems plausible. I do think Cena goes over at WrestleMania, and I don't think Vince wants to end Mania with the heel winning, so I can't see a Cena turn here. Neither can I see the Rock turn. Instead, I see some sort of accidental moment where Rock hits Cena in some way and it costs them the match, but it looks like an accident...albeit one that might have been on purpose.
Prediction: Awesome Truth
CM Punk vs. Alberto Del Rio for the WWE Championship: This might be the worst feud on the card. This match could easily steal the show from a work rate point, but I feel no investment in either character. Just four months ago, CM Punk was the hottest act in all of wrestling. And three months before that, Del Rio was the “must see” part of Smackdown. Now it has been reduced to this. And you people wonder why I get negative sometimes. Del Rio needs the win here, and I'm picking him, but I would not be surprised in the least if Punk goes over here to setup a rematch at TLC.
Prediction: Alberto Del Rio retains the WWE Championship, perhaps after a DQ.
Big Show vs. Mark Henry for the World Heavyweight Championship: I'm also just a bit worried about this one, but for the opposite reason of the WWE Title match. Henry and Show have the best feud in WWE. Hell, they have the best feud in all of wrestling at this moment. But big man matches are not know for their excitement. They managed to give a good match last month, but can they even get close to that again? I expect a very similar match with most of the same spots. Hopefully whatever they have going on at the end will offset what could be a stinky match between the ropes. Henry retains here. Nothing else makes sense.
Prediction: Mark Henry retains the World Heavyweight Championship
Team Orton (Randy Orton, Sheamus, Mason Ryan, Sin Cara, and Kofi Kingston) vs. Team Barrett (Wade Barrett, Cody Rhodes, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger, and Hunico) in a traditional Survivor Series match: I had this all locked up for Team Orton heading into Smackdown, but the babyfaces going over strong there hints that I might be wrong. But I have picked all heels so far, and there is no way Vince allows this many heels to win. Plus, they have such a hard-on for Orton, Sheamus and Ryan you can't really expect all three to get pinned in the same night. Team Orton all the way.
Prediction: Team Orton wins with Randy Orton, Sheamus, and Mason Ryan surviving.
Bonus Prediction: Hunico is the first eliminated.
Eve vs. Beth Phoenix in a lumberjill match for the WWE Divas' Championship: Not much to talk about here. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to how the Divas are booked. I think Beth wins, but since very few people care, they could make the change just because.
Prediction: Beth Phoenix retains the WWE Divas' Championship.
John Morrison vs. Dolph Ziggler for the United States Championship: If this becomes a triple threat, like I think it will, then my pick is Zack Ryder over Morrison. If this stays a singles match, Dolph get to show off how bad ass he is by working two matches and still keeping his title.
Prediction: Zack Ryder wins the United States Championship after match is changed to a triple threat. Otherwise, Dolph Ziggler retains.
Bonus Prediction: Kevin Nash vs. Triple H: I fully expect a “miraculous” recovery by Hunter a full two weeks ahead of schedule. I also fully expect him not to be at 100 percent, and lose the match to setup a chairs match at TLC.
Prediction: Kevin Nash.
