Shore's Weekend Promo: ROH disappoints with the same gimmicks, WWE PPVs, TNA Bound for Glory, a CM Punk "injury," and Pro Wrestling Evo returns
Oct 2, 2011 - 04:21 PM

In the spirit of my beloved WCW Saturday Night, welcome to the Shore Weekend Promo. Every week I will mention, the good, the bad, the ugly, and whatever else I want to talk about across all of wrestling.

Opening Series (My overall thoughts on the week):

-Hell in a Cell is here and I could not possibly care less. This PPV is the perfect storm of bad booking, unspectacular match ups, and a gimmick that should be an end to major feud, not a random match thrown into the middle. When you add in the fact that TNA managed to go back downhill this week (at least partially) and ROH sounding exceptionally bad, it was not a good week for professional wrestling. And there was almost nothing to pop about.

Pops (The best of the week):

-I like the idea of Bound for Glory showing in movie theaters. I have no idea if it will be a financial win for TNA, but I champion the idea of doing something different. I think I will drop the $15 or so to check it out live in the theater and give you guys a report on what the experience was like.

Heat (The worst of the week):

-ROH ruined a very good match between El Generico and Jay Lethal by being overly predictable with the time limit draw/Jim Cornette run out. Besides this being Cornette's favorite gimmick (or at least feels that way), it was also just done at the iPPV. I know real time wise it was months between them using the gimmick, but TV time wise it was a couple of weeks. They need to be more cogent of that going forward.

-The build for Hell in a Cell has been as best as you could hope for considering they only had two weeks to prepare. But that's what I have heat with. How does WWE honestly expect us to pay $55 twice in two weeks? Especially when they have given us such weak and themeless stories? I don't care what the numbers say, there is no way you will make me believe that they can't cut a PPV and keep the same basic revenue. This is too much.

Tweet This (Best Tweets from "The Boys"):

-CM Punk: Ever smash your hand through a ceiling fan going full blast while putting a shirt on? Me either.

-Shelton Benjamin: can anyone tell me what its like to have a partner that actually answers his phone cause i dont know what thats like

-Caleb Konley: The past 2 weeks Ive beat Roderick strong & Mike bennett, I stood toe to toe w/ fit finlay what's Kirby Mack going to do?

-Kirby Mack: Ladies if you really "Don't have anything to wear.", Then you'd be walking around naked...and I don't see any nakies. #JustSayin'

Go Home (The Big Finish, Whatever I Want):

Pro Wrestling Evo returns to the Cabarrus arena next Saturday for #FollowThis and newly signed ROH talent Cedric Alexander cuts perhaps the best promo he's ever done in anticipation of facing Marcellus King again for the Evo title.

This is going to be a great card with every match daring the next to "Follow This" in action. ROH's Kyle O'Reilly will also be on hand to face Zack Salvation, and "The Manscout" Jake Manning faces the toughest challenge yet to his Manscout Challenge when the man who trained him, Tony Kozin, tries to close the circle and end Manning's Evo career. If you're in the Concord, NC area, consider checking this show out.
