ROH Wrestling Hits
Overall Show: From its very old school feel, to the way the segments were laid out, I was impressed with the show. The Inside ROH segment is a great idea, and starting with the Code of Honor made perfect sense. They will eventually have to offer some more wrestling on the show, but these first few weeks are about establishing the product and they would be hard pressed to have done a better job on their opener.
Future Shock vs. The Bravados. I have seen these two teams face off about six times now, and it never disappoints. They aren't the most charismatic teams on roster, but they put on a great show in the ring. The Bravados have the slight edge on charisma, and I would love to see them get a good push as a heel tag team. Future Shock has all the talent in the world, and they are over with the ROH faithful, but they are not going to translate as well to casual fans. Still, any fan of tag team wrestling loved this match.
WGTT vs. Kings of Wrestling: Kudos to WWE for not premiering Claudio and/or Hero before this aired. It would have done ROH no service to announce the result of this match before it aired by showing the losers on their TV shows. The match itself was a far cry from the wars we have seen between these two teams, but it was also a great TV main event. It established tag team wrestling as a Joe Biden big effing deal in ROH, and it showcased their most widely known wrestlers in Haas and Benjamin. Good call all the way around.
Nigel McGuiness: Could not think of a better way to start off the new show than by bringing out a returning fan favorite. It will take Nigel some time to grow into this role, but it's nice to see him find a gig in wrestling that will keep him going even if he can't wrestle anymore. Plus, what a great pop from the crowd.
ROH Wrestling Misses
Showing same footage twice: My only problem with the show was the two video packages they showed that highlighted the tag teams showed the exact same footage. First was the Best in the World video, and then the ROH Flashback. I realize that was what setup the main event, but you have to be cogent of the fact that you just showed the exact same video twice in about 15 minutes. It's a minor mistake, but one that could have fans changing the channel if it happens a lot.
