Shore's WWE Smackdown Hitlist: Mark Henry is the number one contender, but no other storylines progressed in the show

WWE Smackdown Hits
Daniel Bryan vs. Alberto Del Rio: Very good match from these two that made up for the too short match last week. It's definitely a hit, but not without its problems. Del Rio was the right winner here, and yet I don't know that I like Bryan taking the loss. If they are going to build him to Mania as an underdog, then I guess it's fine. But I don't know if I like that storyline either. I guess more than anything what frustrates me is that it was a meaningless win and loss for both guys as they are on separate brands. Or at least they are supposed to be.
Mark Henry as number one contender: Other than blowing off the feud with Sheamus too quickly, I like Henry as number one contender. He's been so dominate for the past couple of months that it's easy to see him as a credible threat to Randy Orton. Let's hope they don't screw it up and put Orton over a ton of times before Night of Champions.
Cody Rhodes vs. Ezekiel Jackson: I'm putting this in the hits not because it was a great match, but because it was better than last week's stinker. I have no idea why they went back to this in such an odd way as opposed to just saying Zeke gets his rematch, but they definitely has a better match than last week and deserve the praise for that.
WWE Smackdown Misses
Lack of stories: Apparently, the only story at all on Smackdown is the World Title picture. Nothing else did anything to tell any story, other than Zeke had his rematch. Which again, they didn't really address as it was supposed to be Zeke vs. DiBiase. Raw is much the same way, except they have the WWE Title story and the CM Punk conspiracy going on. I'm confused by this lack of writing for the undercard. You have all these guys sitting there, and they just throw them into random matches. I realize most everyone was in the Battle Royal tonight, but that's no excuse. We need to see more effort put into building guys up from the top to the bottom of the card.
Opening Segment: Randy Orton is champion and he's awesome. Is that what we were supposed to get from the opening segment because that's all I got? Except the awesome didn't really come through. The whole thing was flat and boring and not worthy of the time it was given.
Tyson Kidd vs. Justin Gabriel: Much like Zeke vs. Cody made the hits because it improved on their last match, this lands in the misses because it was a far cry from the match they had on NXT. I realize very few people saw that match, but so what? Put that match on Smackdown and let people see it. Plus this was a lot sloppier than the first one. The moves weren't as crisp, and I saw a lot of daylight during some of the kicks and whatnot. Again, not a bad match per se, but a missed opportunity.
