WWE Smackdown Hits
Daniel Bryan vs. Cody Rhodes: Seeing as how this was the only match with a clean finish AND went longer than five minutes, it's easy to see why this is match of the night. But it wasn't just that. Cody and Bryan have very good chemistry from what we have seen. Bryan lost this match, but didn't really lose any steam. Whoever the agent was for this match should be responsible for more because everybody came out of this looking good. Only match on the show to do that.
Christian trying to make Randy Orton mad: Some of this was silly, but it kind of has to be if you were really trying to make Orton mad. Nobody gets mad over everyday stuff. My antics would have to be over the top to really set you off, and Christian's were. The movie bit was probably too much in retrospect, but otherwise I thought they did a good job of playing into the DQ stipulation.
Big Show vs. Mark Henry: This was my favorite single segment of the show. Henry and Show were very believable, very relaxed, and I think they did a fantastic job of hyping their match at the PPV. I'm worried because that match should be a stinker, and I hope they haven't overhyped it and leave people disappointed. So far this feud has been handled well, so I will try and stay optimistic.
Sheamus vs. Sin Cara: OK, technically this had a clean finish and went a little over five minutes, but it wasn't a spectacular match. I did like the story they told with Sheamus trashing Sin Cara all over the place and then losing on a last second reversal, but it didn't capture my attention until the finish. It's still a hit, and I wouldn't mind seeing these two go at it again.
WWE Smackdown Misses
Heath Slater: I hate to just rag on a guy, but I haven't liked Slater since the first season of NXT, and I wasn't jaded from having to cover that cesspool of a show yet then. He just doesn't have "it," and the worst thing WWE could have done was give him a mic…which they promptly did on Smackdown. Don't get me wrong, I think the guy can work in the ring. His match with Gabriel showed real promise, but he just doesn't do it for me in any other way.
Ezekiel Jackson vs. Ted DiBiase: I really want good things for both guys, but this wasn't it. Combined with the weird Cody verbal assault on Ted, the whole story is just weak. Zeke needs a long term program with someone over the belt to improve both his, and the belt's, standing. I'm not entirely sure what Ted needs to get going, but it isn't this. That much I am sure of.
Kane: Haven't we seen this before? I mean, maybe not this exact same thing, but haven't we seen Kane have this type of identity crisis before? I put this as a miss because I'm afraid it will be poorly done, but the truth is I am secretly hopeful they will have some fun with this storyline. Kane showed that in short spurts he can be fantastic to watch. If they give him some good material here, this could quickly change to a hit.
Kelly Kelly vs. Rosa Mendes: I will now officially refer to the Divas as the shampoo act because they follow the directions on shampoo bottles. Ring bell. Stink up joint. Repeat.
