WWE Smackdown Hits

Brodus Clay: The idea to keep Clay from Big Show is one of the best ideas in a long time for WWE. Couple that with Clay's extra aggression and I think they have done the best they can with this act. He would still be better as a monster heel, but this could work for a while if done correctly.

Damien Sandow vs. Hornswoggle: I realize I'm making an assumption here that Horny stays as Sandow's foil, but I think it is a brilliant idea if he does. Horny is wildly over--tragically--but can't really do anything with that heat to get others over. Having Horny be the mindless thing Sandow is railing against, and then letting guys like Tyson Kidd work the matches with him, allows him to get over via Hornswoggle without having to watch Horny wrestle. Good stuff if they stick with it.

Christian vs. Dolph Ziggler: Even though this didn't reach expectations, it was still a very good match. I felt like both men were holding back, and that's to be expected. These two could have a money feud down the road, and all you want to do here is whet our appetites. I hate to see Ziggler lose again, though. He needs wins, and needs them in a bad way.

Ricardo Rodriguez as Sheamus: Come on, that was hilarious. Ric Rod continues to be my favorite part of the Del Rio act. I'm sure that's not the intent, but it is the truth.

WWE Smackdown Misses

Alberto Del Rio: Del Rio has had serious damage done to him by creative, no question. But my problem with him this week was what he is responsible for. His promo was weak, filled with several stalling phrases like, "You know what, Sheamus?" He didn't seem uncomfortable, but he didn't seem all that capable either. I don't know if he's lost his confidence or what, but he was a big miss tonight.

Michael Cole replay: This was what it was, but I am honestly stunned they played this whole thing in its entirety. The amount of show time this got shows how out of touch Vince McMahon truly is.
