WWE Smackdown Hits

John Cena vs. Seth Rollins: A surprisingly entertaining match you should check out if you haven't. Except it shouldn't be all that surprising. John Cena has proven, regardless of what his detractors say, that he can have high quality matches if put in the ring with someone like a Seth Rollins. He sold all of Rollins's offense and the near falls down the stretch were a real Hit for both the live and TV audiences.

Big E Langston: Langston continued push is a Hit for this viewer, though I will admit it still hasn't quite gotten its legs under it yet. Langston feels like he should be a big deal, and wins over Dean Ambrose will help, but it's still more of a "should" than "is" situation. A few more impressive outings like he had this week will go a long way to transitioning over to true star.

Roman Reigns vs. Mark Henry: Reigns continues to look like a beast, and beating Mark Henry clean will go a long way to solidifying that idea. Henry can absorb the loss just fine, and I hope they don’t make the mistake of putting Henry over Rollins down the road to get his win back. It's absolutely unnecessary and it will do more to derail a surging Reigns than it would help the already established Henry.

WWE Smackdown Misses

The Wyatt Family: The herky-jerky booking for the Wyatts continues this week. First we get the meaningless, and repetitive, tag team win and post-match sacrifice. Then we get the creepy, but utterly meaningless, promo on Daniel Bryan that didn't even really address what happened last week (more on that miss below). The act is sufficiently creepy, and Wyatt is a top talent with this act, but it just isn’t being usd properly and it's starting to make the act wear thin.

Dolph Ziggler: The pink hair is indicative of Dolph Ziggler's run in WWE, stop messing with what works. I don’t understand why he would dye his hair after the backlash from simply returning to his natural hair color last year. Worse, the bright pink screams "Johnny Rocker, cookie cutter glam wrestler from 1985." I'm not sure what happened to this kid but he hasn't had a decent moment since getting his concussion and dropping the belt.

Daniel Bryan: Don't get me wrong. I still think Bryan is the best act ion WWE right now, but WWE still uses him so poorly. His gimmick right now seems to be to get killed one week and then return the next week and act like nothing happened. This was true of the kidnapping and it was true again this week after being launched from a loading dock. That doesn't make a bit of sense and it’s an insult to Bryan and his fans to make the guy look like a dope.
