5/30 Wednesday One Shots: The Dot Net staff give their quick thoughts from the previous week in WWE, TNA, MMA and indy wrestling

Welcome to Wednesday One Shots. Here we present a quick "one shot" thought from each staff member about the previous week in each of the following areas: WWE, TNA and Other (MMA, Indies, etc).

WWE

Will Pruett (Twitter - @itswilltime): Big Show now seems like a monster, but what does be do in two months when John Cena is finished with him? We've seen this with far too many of Cena's opponents lately. Kane is now wallowing as a monster without direction. Rock and Brock Lesnar escaped this because they can leave. Where does Show go? What can he do after he is vanquished?

Jake Barnett (Twitter - @barnettjake): WWE is really hammering home the idea that The Big Show is an unstoppable monster. I'm thrilled that someone is getting legitimate chance to be a dominant heel in the company, but I'm a little sad that it's the Big Show being put in that role. I really do like Big Show in certain roles, but the way these story has played out has been so painfully obvious that it just doesn't feel as fresh or as impactful as it should be.

Ryan Kester (Twitter - @TheRyanKester): It is absolutely exciting to see Dolph Ziggler declare that he is above his current spot. I've been beating the drum of Ziggler deserving a push for some time now, so I hope WWE is finally ready to give him a shot.

TNA

Will Pruett: Going live this week is a major opportunity. They hooked viewers in (hopefully) with the tease of Sting vs. Bobby Roode right at the top of the show on Thursday. Now the challenge is discipline. They set it up, but they have to discipline themselves and not offer he big moment instead of the satisfying story. Can TNA show the discipline they need?

Jake Barnett: TNA has made a pretty big deal out of their upcoming format changes, but I'm not sold on it yet. Each time TNA has tried to blend reality elements into their scripted stories it has just come across like a writer trying to script a backstage insider conversation. I hope they prove me wrong.

Ryan Kester: It's great to see Bobby Roode get some wins under his belt. He's a long way off from overcoming the months of poor booking behind him, but TNA is starting to head in the right direction.

Other (MMA, Indies, Etc)

Will Pruett (Indies): I love wrestling as much as anyone. I write for this site for that very reason. I even enjoy catching the occasional iPPV event on my computer. What I don't enjoy is seeing three iPPV events in one weekend. That is about twelve hours of wrestling in one weekend and that is far too much. This many events in one period is actually a recipe for losing fans, not gaining them.

Jake Barnett (UFC): UFC 146 was a noteworthy show, with Brock Lesnar taking some of the spotlight, and guys like Cain Velasquez and Roy Nelson continuing to move up the ladder in the Heavyweight Division and Junior Dos Santos proving that he is the new yardstick in that division. I still worry that UFC is oversaturating their brand, but thus far they have continued to put up entertaining cards.

Ryan Kester (UFC): Congratulations to Junior Dos Santos on his successful title defense. It's nice to see a heavyweight champion last more than one fight, and I hope Dos Santos can keep it up.
