6/15 Wednesday One Shots: The Dot Net staff give their quick thoughts from the previous week in WWE, TNA, MMA and indy wrestling

Welcome to the Wednesday One Shot. Each week, we will present a quick "one shot" thought from each staff member about the previous week in each of the following areas: WWE, TNA and Other (MMA, Indies, etc).

WWE

Will Pruett: Randy Orton's concussion could definitely throw a wrench into WWE Capitol Punishment this Sunday. Christian vs. Orton is the most compelling feud in WWE right now and that feud being pulled from the show would really hurt it. Hopefully all is well come Sunday's show.

Jake Barnett: Before he buries the entire roster underneath the weight of his inept ramblings, WWE needs to get Booker T away from the booth. "With minimal skills and ability, John Cena has climbed the ranks in WWE", said Booker at Over the Limit. The same goes for your commentating career, Book.

Mark Gessnar: Zack Ryder has been with the WWE for a few years. He has gone from being a Major Brother, to an Edge Head, to one of the most current characters on the WWE roster. Since becoming Long Island Iced Z, he has received over one million views on YouTube with his weekly show. Zack Ryder is from Long Island, New York.

Raw on Monday was broadcasted from the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, NY. Raw was three hours long this past week. While appearing on Superstars this upcoming Thursday, would it really have killed WWE to put Ryder on the card for Raw? 'As Dolph Ziggler put it, "You didn't rib 'the kid' tonight, you ribbed the fans, Long Island, and the boys in the back! AND kicked him in the nuts." Chris Jericho followed with, ""So LAME that WWE didn't include Zack Ryder on Raw last night. No reason not to! Wrestling is supposed to be FUN, remember? Time to riot."

Ryan Kester: Sheamus is doing some of the best work of his career, and I can seriously see him as the top babyface in the WWE if given enough attention. I love the fact that he's now using a submission hold in addition to his already devastating offense.

Chris Shore: I would really like to ask someone in the know about if Smackdown being so much better than Raw is really Vince McMahon taking a hands off approach to the Friday show while being in everyone's ass on Mondays. I know we make a lot of jokes and cracks, but Vince McMahon has proven himself a genius in this business many times over. But perhaps it's really more like a mad scientist type thing. Sometimes you get Alberto Del Rio. Sometimes you get Hornswoggle.

TNA

Will Pruett: Slammiversary was a decent show, but unspectacular. The best part of the show was Bully Ray vs. A.J. Styles. Bully Ray is TNA's surprise breakout star of the year. He is showing that he has all the tools to be a top star in 2011. This turn in his character just reinforces that anything can happen in wrestling.

Jake Barnett: Wrestling will matter any day now. I'll keep you posted.

Mark Gessnar: I'm totally over TNA/Impact Wrestling. I saw a lot of the $10 a week PPVs, the weekly shows on Spike when it used to start at 11 PM, on to the 9 PM start time. I'm pretty much done going out of my way to watch the show. I read spoilers and results; if something really interests me, I'll watch the show on DVR.

For a company to have AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Homicide, Jay Lethal, Alex Shelley, and other ROH phenoms on their roster but not be able to write a show to produce ratings is terrible. You then add Kurt "Freaking" Angle who won a gold medal with a broken "freaking" neck, and you still can't add viewers due to asinine booking. Until the company makes a creative change, TNA/Impact Wrestling is going to be a DVR casualty for me.

Ryan Kester: TNA managed to deliver a decent PPV last Sunday that was only mired by a bit of overbooking in their main events. They may not be delivering on their promise of 'wrestling matters,' but you have to give them credit when they start taking steps in the right direction.

Chris Shore: Making fun of TNA used to be like a sport to me. There was, and is, so much wrong there that it became fun to find new and inventive ways to point out all the dreck. But it's gone on for so long now that even the good things are buried under a mountain of sewage, and the thrill, as they say, is gone.

Other (MMA, Indies, Etc)

Will Pruett: ROH - Ring of Honor's Best in the World iPPV is shaping up to be one of the best cards ROH has put together in the last few years. While I'm not excited by the four corner tag team title match, the action is guaranteed to deliver. The main event will be a match for the ages with Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards colliding for the ROH title. This entire card looks amazing and I can't wait to see it.

Jake Barnett: UFC - UFC 131 was a decision heavy broadcast that had some good action, but I think UFC is running into the same over saturation problem WWE is currently fighting with. The question is, will they find the right balance to maximize visibility and revenue, or will they continue to increase the number of PPV events until something gives?

Mark Gessnar: MMA - Judging over the last year has been horrific. Judges need to be held accountable for their scores for a fight. Fights are judged on effective striking, effective grappling, aggression, and octagon control. If you cannot intelligently score those categories, you need to find a new profession. Fighters have lost fights and win bonuses based on terrible scorings and this should not be the case. Athletic commissions need to find a better way of screening their judges to make sure they are competent enough to score fights.

Ryan Kester: WCW - Just picked up the Best of Nitro DVD, and I would highly recommend you do the same if you were a fan of WCW. The collection can get depressing at moments, but it contains some of the show's greatest moments and is something every WCW diehard should own.

Chris Shore: DGUSA - Dragon Gate USA's make good deal for those who had technical difficulties during their most recent iPPV was a smart move, but it didn't quite go far enough. If you're giving away free stuff, give more of it away to everyone and try to grow your product. I realize if you give everything to everyone then it isn't a "make good," but it sure does feel like they blew an opportunity here.
