Pruett's Quick Blog: Jeff Hardy won the TNA Championship, but where was the confetti?

It should have been huge. TNA's top star, top babyface, top merchandise seller, and one of the biggest stars in all of wrestling over the last five years, won the TNA World Championship. Not only did he win said championship, but he did so on TNA's biggest show of the year. By all accounts, this should have been a moment for the ages. It, quite possibly, could have been the biggest moment in TNA history. Sadly, it was not.
While I watched Jeff Hardy's celebration, I did not think of the weak build going into his match with Austin Aries. I didn't think about Aries suddenly turning into a C.M. Punk knockoff on the last show before the pay-per-view. I never mentally mentioned how good or bad this match actually was. During Hardy's celebration, I was asking, "Where's the confetti?"
TNA has a history of shooting off an absolutely absurd amount of confetti to emphasize major moments. Remember Rob Van Dam winning the TNA Championship on a major Monday night episode of Impact? Red and yellow confetti rained down on him until we could no longer see him. Remember Austin Aries winning the TNA Championship himself at Destination X? Another sheet of confetti covered the entire arena.
TNA's doesn't just have confetti cannons, it drops nuclear confetti bombs on the victorious talent.
Where was this for Jeff Hardy? I can excuse TNA not having pyro for their shows on the road, even though it frustrates me to no end. It really doesn't make sense for TNA's major shows to be the ones without pyro, but that is their choice. Confetti does not require a special license to drop. Confetti does not require a fire marshal's approval. Confetti only requires the confetti dropping/spraying mechanism.
For me, the lack of confetti illustrates a larger point about Bound for Glory. It happened and TNA tried to give it the "big show" feel, but it didn't quite achieve it. Something was missing. In this instance, that something was the confetti.
