Dot Net readers respond to Powell's Blog suggestion that TNA should hire Paul Heyman as to run creative
Jul 21, 2009 - 10:15 AM

The following emails were sent in response to Monday's Powell's Blog which suggested that TNA hire Paul Heyman to head creative.

I would like to say that you were dead on. I saw the pay-per-view (Sunday) night and I think they need to change the creative team. The Main Event Mafia is just like the NWO from WCW. I have been a wrestling fan for 35 years.

I respectfully disagree on your article calling for Dixie Carter to clean house on The TNA Creative Team. While I do agree with you that "Victory Road" was a bad pay-per-view, I think restructuring creative would be a knee jerk reaction. Impact has been consistently good for a couple of months now (this is coming from someone who was close to giving up on it at the beginning of the year.)

Besides all that, Paul Heyman is overrated as overrated gets in pro wrestling. When he was on/in charge of The Smackdown creative team several years back. What did he do that was so memorable there? Did he raise ratings/ppv buyrates/general interest on that brand? I also don't get your notion that TNA would become "Internet darlings" upon Heyman's hire.

Hasn't it been proved that the Internet makes up a small percentage of the pro wrestling fan? Wouldn't this be just like Vince Russo pandering to the Internet crowd in his WCW days? If anyone needs your "Open Letter" Article, it should be Vince McMahon about his horrid creative team. Just my opinion. Thanks for your time.

I used to frequent your site quite often but I stopped many months ago due to the state of pro wrestling in this country. One of my friends alerted me of the blog you wrote so I checked it out and couldn't be more pleased unless it actually happened. I'm glad someone in your position with thousands (maybe more?) of daily readers can put some common sense out there so perhaps the word can get passed on to Dixie Carter.

This "company" is upside down and has never gotten it right from day one. I attended the second to last PPV here in Detroit at the Palace and what a mess that show was. This King of the Mountain match they have...are you serious? So I'm climbing this ladder to hang the belt? I have to pin someone and that doesn't mean I win? Wait, penalty box for two minutes?

What I found interesting, I don't if this is common practice at TNA PPV's, but Dixie Carter was walking around the arena floor taking pictures with the fans. If I wasn't excited about sitting six rows back on the aisle I would have had half the mind to tell her about her product. Three long hours later, I regret my decision.

I don't want to diminish anything you have said but you have stated the obvious. I am so happy to see the obvious stated so clearly. TNA looked like it was turning the corner to be the new ECW but in recent weeks it has fell flat on it's face. TNA reflects Jeff Jarrett's career. It should have been huge but it has fell very short.

Heyman would not only change TNA but it would rival or beat WWE. WWE robbed everything Heyman has done and now the WWE is back to where it started, kid friendly crap. The likes of Paul Heyman or even an Eric Bishoff would make a solid product for wrestling lifers.

I am 25 and I have been watching for 20 years. I am a lifer. Jarrett and Vince McMahon are turning this sport into complete shit with teases of possible greatness. When you think something great will happen it becomes a complete jerk off.

Heyman doesn't do that. Heyman builds up and makes a great finish. No matter how bad this sport gets I will watch but not happily. It's like watching a family member turn to shit. I love you wrestling, please love us all back.
