Dot Net readers sound off on Judgment Day: "I do not regret ordering it - it was good television - but it won't encourage me to spend $50 on another in the near future"
May 18, 2009 - 11:31 AM

I was taken aback by the booking of Judgment Day. I was peeved that they would build up Big Show only to job him to John Cena when he's leaving soon. I'm not a Big Show fan or a Cena hater, I just thought it could have been booked a hell of a lot better. I can understand putting Cena over in that he's the top babyface, but what was the point of building Show as a monster only to job him? Go the comedy route if he's not gonna be pushed well.

I thought Chris Jericho vs. Rey Mysterio was going to steal the show but no such luck. This was a lackluster pay-per-view and they could have done so much better. The matches on paper sounded fantastic. Give me a tag match at least. Just one. And not inter-gender. Alas, it was just so bland. Where's my Tivo recording of ROH?

The PPV wasn't as solid as I had hoped. For some reason, C.M. Punk going first and losing I thought was the perfect set-up for the cash-in but they are saving it, most likely due to too many title changes recently. Punk vs. Umaga was solid but I'm not sure Punk needed to lose two pay-per views in a row. Jack Swagger vs. Christian didn't really do much for me but I did like the storytelling and continuation of the first match. John Morrison vs. Shelton Benjamin was brilliant in my eyes. Both men look like the future but Benjamin's been down this road for too long.

The Miz is just outshining everybody and out of nowhere. I keep waiting to hear a blah promo and prove it was just good writing for a couple of weeks but he just hits it every time and his quirky replies to the fans were definitely perfect heel moves. Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Jericho was good from what I saw with a almost perfect ending. Randy Orton vs. Batista really wasn't that great to me. I don't like them booking Orton to be such a wuss and nobody needs Ric Flair back. I didn't watch John Cena vs. Big Show for obvious reasons.

Jeff Hardy vs. Edge was pretty good without Punk cashing in and Matt Hardy seems like a whole different persona when I think about it now. It seems like they did find a way to separate the two. A good show but the main events lacked while the undercard was perfect.

I ordered Judgment Day last night just because we hadn't seen a WWE pay-per-view in a while. It was fun, in the same sense that watching a regular Raw or ECW or Smackdown show is fun. There wasn't anything about it that distinguished it as a PPV apart from a free show.

I do not regret ordering it - it was good television - but it won't encourage me to spend $50 on another in the near future. Everything that was on the pay-per-view I've seen numerous times for free.

Another solid/strong PPV. The first four matches were good to very good, then went down hill, though Ric Flair coming out to help Batista was kind of cool, then the PPV went back to very good with Edge vs. Jeff Hardy. The only thing about Edge and Hardy is that you could tell the fans wanted C.M. Punk. I mean you never see/hear a match with Hardy in it be that dead.

John Cena winning like nothing happen was complete crap! People will say that's how Cena is always booked, but that's not true. Over the past year he's been a normally booked main event star, well as normal as Cena can be but, whatever, tonight was crap. Then to make it worse, he no sold the entire match after it's over. And WWE wonders why a lot of people hate Cena.
