Powell answers reader questions on Ted DiBiase in The Legacy, LAX re-signing with TNA, Lance Russell and the WWE HOF, the sad state of the TNA Knockouts Division, NWA Showcase

I agree with your thoughts on keeping The Legacy small.I had a question about Ted Dibiase remaining in it though. I personally would like to see it, but would that happen with the "Marine 2" coming out, which i think is due early next year. Would they keep him a heel when that comes out? You would think they would turn him face, as everyone but Kane was a face in there pics.

Josh Marino

Powell replies: The movie is slated for a 2010 release, so there's still plenty of time to put him in the faction and turn him babyface later if they feel that's the best way to sell the DVD. History says they turn the stars of their movies babyface, but I would like to think they wouldn't rock the boat if the faction was successful. That said, let's see if he ends up in the faction upon his return before we get too carried away.

So was Hernandez's deal due to expire soon? I heard someone mention (the name slips my mind) that TNA had the option of renewing his deal for an additional year. Based on your report it soounds like TNA gave him a better deal out of goodwill.

Also, there has been talk of several TNA deals being up for renewal come Spring of 2009. Do you think LAX renewing is a sign that TNA will have no trouble renewing all the other deals coming up at that time (I believe Robert Roode is one name)? I was thinking LAX were two of those Spring contracts talked about.

Spindle

Powell's POV: Bill Behrens reported that TNA had an option for another year. However, Hernandez had been telling friends that he would rather go back to working a non-wrestling job than continue working for the money he was earning in TNA under his old contract, so he was intent on getting a better financial deal.

I have also heard that Roode's deal is coming up and it will be interesting to see if he stays given that WWE has some interest. I don't expect TNA to renew all contracts, as there could be some wrestlers who are set on going to WWE and others that TNA simply chooses not to re-sign.

I was just wondering what the chances are of Lance Russell ever being considered for the hall of fame. He's one of the premiere wrestling announcers of all time and deserves to be recognized on a national scale. Why Jerry Lawler doesn't lobby for him is mind boggling. What are your thoughts on this matter?

"The Avatar"

Powell replies: Who's to say The King hasn't lobbied for Russell? I think Lance should be recognized by WWE, but it took them some time to get to the great Gordon Solie, so hopefully Russell will get in eventually.

Do you know if TNA is going to do anything about the huge void that is in the Knockouts division with the release of Gail Kim. Is there any chance that they could bring in someone like Molly Holly to help shore up the division?

Tom T.

Powell replies: They desperately need to do something to spice up the division. I don't know if Molly is an option because she seems to have moved on from wrestling, but I would hope that TNA has at least taken the time to extend the invitation. A big addition by subtraction would be to pull Rhaka Khan from the ring until she shows some improvement. They should definitely keep an eye on the SHIMMER product and focus on bringing in some of the better workers. For that matter, they could always unmask Raisha Saeed and let her work the Cheerleader Melissa gimmick.

Finally new episodes of NWA Showcase on Colours? Seriously? They have been showing reruns since March. What will the new weekly time slot be? More importantly, will there be new episodes every week?

Jason Savage

Powell replies: New episodes are scheduled to being airing on Colours (Ch. 9407 on Dish Network) on Friday nights at 6:00 p.m. (ET) on Jan. 28. Here's hoping they strike a deal with DirecTV so that I can see the show.
