Dot Net Mailbag: WWE Royal Rumble fan reaction - unsolicited emails from angry fans upset over the Royal Rumble and the decision to go with Batista as the winner
Jan 27, 2014 - 12:15 PM

The following unsolicited emails were sent to Prowrestling.net following the WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

I read your results and I agree 100 percent. WWE having Batista win and not having Daniel Bryan in the rumble it's self is one of the most stubborn, pigheaded moves WWE has made. If they don't let Daniel Bryan be part of the title match at WrestleMania 30 or at the least have Bryan vs Undertaker, then WWE is going to have a riot on their hands, and the launch of the WWE Network is going to fail.

I swear all other promotions big or small have no problems giving fans what they want whether it's a dream match or a wrestler like Daniel Bryan as their top guy and champion of their company. WWE just refuses to give fans what they want. I'm sick of it. Mick Foley is right: WWE must hate their fans.

I normally don't write direct like this when stating an opinion but I honestly couldn't help it. For the past few years, I normally read your reviews of wrestling shows and get an opinion from a respected wrestling news source like yours and your staff. Sure I'd agree or disagree with some things you guys say but hey, that's the fun part about it. I read your review tonight of the show and you said it best about how stubborn WWE is getting. They dropped the ball BIG TIME.

Tonight, after witnessing that PPV, I haven't been that angry in a long time when it came to Professional Wrestling. This is becoming a joke. For WWE not to understand where we're coming from as fans is absolutely absurd. When 15,000 fans are chanting the same name, when thousands of people are sounding off on social media sites, and when wrestling news columnists all agree on one thing, there has to be a change.

This is bullshit. Plain and simple. They talk about creating stars but that gets them nowhere when part-time guys like Batista are winning title shots. It's simply not fair to anyone who wrestles in a match at this point forward to hear a guys name being chanted whose not even involved in the match. This truly should be a time where Vince McMahon looks at himself in the mirror and asks "Why did we do that?" It's an embarrassment.

Sorry for writing you and sounding off, but it's honestly becoming a joke how blind and deaf WWE has become over the last four months.

I have already spent tons of money on WrestleMania weekend for the Hall of Fame, Axxess, ROH, WrestleMania, Raw, and Smackdown. Needless to say, I am extremely upset at the WWE still telling us that we don't know what we want. I have promoted shows before (All Access Wrestling) in Louisiana and I know that you don't ever think you are better than the crowd. They know what they want. This effort to kill Daniel Bryan's popularity over and over again isn't enough... But putting Batista in the main event of WrestleMania against the worst thing on your show's today Randy Orton is! Sure, they could have Bryan end The Streak and make us happy... But I am thinking it's time we stand up and show them a thing or two!

I request that all of WrestleMania ticket holders, have a chant for beginning of the main event of Orton and Batista (assuming it's last match) and then walk out in unison. Leave the WrestleMania main event with no crowd. Heck, they don't care what we think anyway, so let them have their main event in front of NO ONE! Let's get it started tomorrow online! I'm pretty sure up to 90 percent of the crowd would go along with this! What better way to show them that we are tired on this! Just because there isn't any competition doesn't mean you get to deliberately tell the crowd and fans to stick it! I'm so close to selling my tickets right now, but instead I'd rather show them the power if the real WWE Universe!

One word: Disappointment.

There's an uprising in the universe and Vince chooses to ignore it because he's thinking with the wrong head.

It's amazing how loud the crowds are for Daniel Bryan. You can hear the eruption all across the world for that man. The fans are just begging for the company to give him the proper push that he deserves. Yet it seems like Vince is just having fun with the WWE fans; dangling that proverbial carrot in front of them, only to pull it back and give them a few "f--- yous."

The closest situation I can remember that was similar to Daniel Bryan was the chants that RVD would receive about 15 years ago. There would be loud RVD chants throughout arenas and even during other wrestler's matches, yet no push for him either. Wasn't HHH around then too?

I thought Vince always preached about, "what's best for business?" Would pushing a red hot star like Bryan to main event, be good for business? Would creating a new star with main event written all over him, be "what's best for business?" Isn't the WWE supposed to be about "Entertainment?" Is Daniel Bryan entertaining? YES! YES! YES! YES!

It's no wonder why the ratings are down, PPV buy rates are down and how the overall product has just become flat.

Watching Cena vs. Orton for umpteenth time is not exactly entertaining. How many times are we supposed to watch those two in the main event? Cena vs. Orton has been in the main event since what, 2006? I was about to go (to the bathroom), until I started to hear the crowd's chant. The only reason I stuck around to watch that match was to listen to the fans.

The company can't even come up with new angles for Cena and Orton. Oh, I know, let's just rehash the Orton/Cana’s father angle again. Why not bring in Cena’s mom in too while we're at it and have a Judy Bagwell on a pole match?

The WWE has become WCW of the late '90s. They have the same boring, lack luster main event rosters for the last 14 years. And have some pretty red hot talent in the mid card that they could easily push to the main event, such as Cesaro, Ziggler, Wyatt, Ambrose and Reigns. Obviously the only one who is going to be getting the push, due to his size is, Roman Reigns. And do we really need to see the Old Age Outlaws as Tag Team Champions?

It's blatant that Vince and HHH do not care for smaller wrestlers. Not only is Daniel not in the Rumble, but when it comes down to the final three, it's all big guys: Sheamus, Reigns and that M&M head Batista.

The only question remains at the end of the Rumble is, whose got the bigger hard-on for large men, Triple H or Vince?
