TNA Bound For Glory reaction: Readers chime in with different takes on the "They" reveal during TNA's biggest pay-per-view event of the year
Oct 11, 2010 - 12:07 PM

You are welcome to send a paragraph or two of feedback on TNA Bound For Glory to dotnetjason@gmail.com for possible inclusion in a mailbag article.

I am extremely disappointed at the garbage of a show we just witnessed from TNA. First off, that was it for the "they" reveal?? And secondly, why on earth would they turn Jeff Hardy heel?

Jeff Hardy in the summer of 2009 was the most popular wrestler on the planet. He was more popular than John Cena and more popular than Randy Orton is today. He has such an innate charm and charisma and it's hard to put into words what it is about him that is so charismatic, but he just has it.

TNA, after having signed the most popular wrestler in the world, did basically nothing with him of significance for six months (he didn't make a blip of a difference in their ratings and popularity), and now turns him heel???

This reminds me of 1997 when Vince McMahon was quoted as saying, "WCW will never know what to do with a Bret Hart." That rings so true today when you see how McMahon was able to promote Jeff Hardy vs. the garbage that TNA is doing with him.

I'm pissed off at this, and it's crap like this why TNA will never succeed. They just cost themselves at least one paying customer forever.

You guessed wrong that TNA wouldn't turn Jeff Hardy heel. I know you're not happy with the finish, but aside from the NWO type angle and Mike Tenay shouting it out with his "Hardy was a Role Model" and "That's B.S." line and the trash throwing in the ring... I think a heel turn for Jeff Hardy will be good for him. He has been a heel before the Hardy Boys were with Gangrel as part of the New Brood back in the Attitude Era.

I'm looking forward to seeing Jeff as a heel. The turn could have been better but I'm fine with it. I can't wait until Impact. The heel turn had the same shock value that Hulk Hogan's turn did. A lot of people didn't think Hardy would be the one to turn. I could see the Hogan and Eric Bishoff turns coming, but I was expecting it to be Kurt Angle that joined them.

Once Hardy got up, tried to be peacemaker, and grabbed the crutch, it became clear he would turn and he did. The rest of the pay-per-view was okay. I enjoyed the Jay Lethal vs. Douglas Williams match and the Motor City Machine Guns vs. Generation Me match.

Jesse, Beaumont, Texas     Score: 0.0   Best Match: Tag Opener, Worst Match: Everything else. The tag opener was good as usual with the four men involved. I am not sure what will happen with Motor City Machine Guns vs. Team 3D because TNA has backed itself into a corner with the 3D promo. They want one final match and either way it goes the loser will not look good here. If MCMG wins, then 3D looks like a joke since they lost their "last match" and the whole angle will be pointless. If Team 3D wins, then they "retire" as champions and again we will have a tourney or tag team gauntlet or some other gimmick related situation to crown new champs. The only rational thing I can think of is this will set up the angle of Ray turning heel on Devon. Yawn!

Tara vs. Mickie James should be fine. I know some people will complain about WWE divas fighting for the TNA belt but get over it. The Knockout belt has seen worse. Remember somebody actually won it by opening up the correct briefcase if I recall correctly.

Ink Inc. vs. Eric Young and Orlando Jordan was comedy but pointless. Eric Young cannot get over no matter what. I read his gimmick is funny at house shows but I don't understand why TNA feels the need to try and get him over again and again.

Jay Lethal vs. Doug Williams: first of the Fortune losses tonight and simply to setup the Jersey Shore knockoff's push. The Jersey crew gets very bad heat. Two appearances now and both crowds were chanting boring. Ouch. Good call Vinny Russo!

Fortune loses to EV2 and I don't know why. Fortune has all of the young studs as mentioned in promo time and it should have been built that way. Young, cocky studs vs old, hard working vets with the young guys putting the old vets out to pasture. That way there was at least a built in storyline as to why EV2 lost but fought hard but for some reason they were booked to win. There is absolutely NO money in any members of EV2. Where does Fortune go from here? They deliver all of the beat downs and brag about how much better they are but lose. It makes Fortune look like shit.

The main event was alright. With all of the talk from Kurt Angle about it being match of the year, I would have expected they would be given more time. There were some nice spots and great effort but nothing we haven't seen before.

All of the "They" build and drama to reveal a Jeff Hardy heel turn with Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff, Abyss and Jeff Jarrett. Bischoff is on record as saying they have been planning this since March and this does not make any sense. Hardy was fighting Abyss at the start of Impact the week after Abyss nearly killed RVD. Now he is aligned with Abyss? Doesn't make sense.

Hardy's trial is about to start and they put the belt on him while he is facing pretty steep charges. Why put your belt on him and build the "They" storyline around his heel turn if he may not be there next month? Bischoff turns Jarrett into his personal slave and degrades him for over a month, yet Jarrett aligns himself with Bischoff? Jeff Hardy cannot be turned heel just like Sting could not. He is not good on the mic and he sports a mostly babyface offense.

It seems like TNA was trying to replicate the Hogan turn since he was always a face and nobody expected him to turn. Striking difference is that Hogan was getting go away heat as fans were tired of Super Hogan and they had enough. In no way were the fans reacting like that to Hardy. Hell, after he was announced the winner, people were still giving him a face cheer and not the "you are the cool bad guy" cheer. Nowadays pundits say TNA does not think things through. I think the opposite. They over think things. They make things too complicated not only for themselves but the viewers as well.

The "They" reveal or anything that took place tonight during their WrestleMania was not must see TV. Nothing happened on the show to where the viewer would feel like they missed out by not watching. I guess we are now stuck with three "They" members in Hardy, Jarrett, and Abyss and two figureheads in Hogan and Bischoff. I can't believe it took them seven months to create this absurd nonsense.
