Reader reports that Mike Adamle's work as a Chicago sports broadcaster is also panned

Those of us in Chicago know Mike Adamle very well. He has been a sports broadcaster for our local NBC 10 p.m. news for many years. I believe he also did a short stint with the CBS local news. He is still on the air many days of the week.
His attempts of live reads are atrocious on many broadcasts. He is always flubbing his words and even mispronouncing names of pro athletes of our Chicago teams. He has been ridiculed by local radio for a long time; playing audio of some his most famous flubs. How he keeps his job and gets contract renewals amazes many.
Outside of his camera presence, he offers nothing but continues to work. When I first saw him on WWE, I thought to myself there is no way that this will last more than a few weeks. I am once again amazed that he continues to be on WWE.

Powell's POV: He must be the world's nicest guy or maybe he is world's greatest job interviewee. I don't get it either, Bob. I've heard similar stories about Adamle's work in Chicago. I'm not sure what WWE saw in the guy and it's obvious they didn't do their homework.

Let me start by saying that I like Mike Adamle. I've met him a few times when he was covering Chicago Bears training camp for an affiliate in Chicago. He's a good guy, and a very knowledgeable sports guy.
When I heard he was hired by WWE, I was excited. I believed he was going to add instant credibility to the company and the product. We're talking about a former professional athlete with a solid background in play by play and sports reporting. That's almost custom made for the job if you ask me.
Of course when I was having those thoughts, I was also assuming Adamle had a passion and some knowledge of the WWE's product. Sadly, that is so obviously not the case, and the only reason he took the job is because Vince McMahon brought him in and gave him a lot of money to be the next voice of the WWE, without so much as considering that Adamle could fall flat on his face.
We wrestling fans aren't that difficult to please. All we really want from the wrestlers is that obvious passion and desire to give us our money's worth every night. I don't think we should expect, or receive, anything less from the announcers. If they have that undeniable zest for the product, we will be much more patient in allowing them to work out the kinks. On the other hand, Michael Cole is a pretty good announcer overall, but why do we reject him? He doesn't love his job, and it's obvious.
Anyway, I just think the WWE—well, Vince—has lost it's vision. There are many reasons to be excited about the in-ring product. There's a lot young talent that looks promising, and many of the vets are elevating their in-ring and promo games. It's the other areas of the company that are in shambles right now. It's time they go back to hiring people that grew up as fans and appreciate the business for what it is. The sad thing is, that's going to be increasingly harder to do if they continue driving fans away with their current philosophy.

I blame this on WWE. This was a taped show. They had time to go back and do voiceovers and edit the show, and not make the man sound like an idiot.....the brothers of construction.......they just threw this guy under the bus.

Powell's POV: There's no amount of editing in the world that could have made Adamle seem like a competent announcer. I get where you're coming from, but the ECW show was a lost cause.
