Random thoughts on the Hogan family lawsuit, TNA’s live show, WrestleMania post-show party

-I feel terrible for the family of John Graziano, the passenger who was critically injured during Nick Bollea’s street racing accident. And I believe Nick, Hulk Hogan, and his estranged wife Linda Bollea each bear a level of responsibility for the accident.
One thing that stood out in the media coverage of the lawsuit filed by the Grazianos is the claim that Hulk and Linda were aware of Nick’s propensity to race and drive recklessly. Given everything we know about the Hogans, that accusation seems accurate.
However, one could argue that Graziano was also aware of Nick’s propensity for reckless driving and street racing when he climbed inside the passenger’s seat. After all, he has been described as the 22 year-old best friend of 17 year-old Nick. Again, that doesn’t mean the Hogan family is not liable to some extent, but I would imagine their lawyers will make the same point once this case finally goes to court.
-The TNA website team has done its job when it comes to hyping Thursday’s live Impact. The site features a commercial and multiple articles regarding the lineup for the show. However, the lineup for the show is missing something. The announcement of Sting’s return his solid, but none of the advertised matches look great on paper.
Sure, it will be interesting to see where they go with the Kurt Angle vs. A.J. Styles and Tomko handicap match, but none of the advertised matches provide much hope for standout in-ring performances.
-I’m still surprised that Floyd Mayweather didn’t appear on Raw. As good as the Big Show’s brief exchange with John Cena was, I think it would have been even cooler to see Mayweather and Cena in the same ring together. At the very least, one would think WWE would have tried to do something to garner one more SportsCenter inclusion before Sunday’s show.
-Here’s hoping and WWE crew shows some restraint at the WrestleMania post-show party on Sunday night. Lord knows the WWE personnel have earned the right to pound a few drinks, especially after putting up with crabby old Vince McMahon lately, but there were reports last year that the Raw held the night after WrestleMania 23 suffered because there were a number of people partying into the wee hours of the morning.
I look forward to the post-Mania Raw as much as the big show itself some years because the company tends to unveil new story lines. It’s also an important show because more casual viewers than usual tend to tune in to find out what happened at WrestleMania the night before.
