Powell's Blog: WWE Night of Champions should be positioned as a Big Four PPV, ROH moving to Mondays, Brock Lesnar and WWE

-Traditionalists will hate the idea, but I'm a big believer in moving the Night of Champions pay-per-view to November and marketing it as one of the Big Four pay-per-views of the year. Sure, Survivor Series is a November tradition and has featured some huge moments over the years, but the overall concept of Survivor Series tag matches doesn't feel as special as an all title match show.

WWE could do so much more with the Night of Champions. It's a great concept that they could go all the way with, but I don't think they want to risk overshadowing the SummerSlam pay-per-view that takes place a month later.

If the show took place in November and received the proper hype, I believe it could be so much bigger than the Survivor Series. That said, Survivor Series could still serve a big purpose for WWE. Because it has the name value of being a Big Four pay-per-view event, I'd move it to the December slot and hope that it would still carry enough weight to draw in what is typically a tough month for pay-per-views due to the holiday season.

The Night of Champions concept just has so much more to offer. The set looked major league with the giant belt tapestries and the red carpet, and there was a great shot of the pre-show host standing in front of all the title belts. If WWE went all the way and made this feel like a major event rather than an ordinary pay-per-view, I believe this could replace Survivor Series as being one of the top pay-per-view events of the year.

-I'm still loving the idea of Ring of Honor moving to Monday nights. Granted, the show will go head-to-head with three-hour Raws occasionally, and a bigger problem is that it will run head-to-head with Monday Night Football during the NFL season, but there was just something uneventful about the show airing on Saturday night.

The lack of interest in ROH and HDNet is still a major concern, but I'm excited about this move and I believe it could result in more interest in the Ring of Honor television show. Now if only they could do something about taping the shows so far in advance.

-Why isn't WWE doing more to capitalize on the Brock Lesnar buzz? A Dot Net Member recently asked during the weekly Q&A audio updates whether this would be a good time for WWE to produce a DVD on Lesnar's career. The answer is unquestionably yes.

This should be at the top of WWE's production schedule. I'd love to see a documentary with comments from Vince McMahon, Jim Ross, and other top WWE brass and performers regarding Lesnar's WWE career and the success he's had in UFC. I'm sure there are still bad feelings with Brock and Vince, but it's not like Vince hasn't cashed in on Ultimate Warrior and Randy Savage.

Lesnar is one of the hottest names in sports right now. He'll continue to be a major topic of conversation as long as he keeps winning fights. WWE has plenty of great Lesnar footage to choose from, and the documentary would be fascinating in that it would be interesting to see whether they buried him like Warrior or treated him like one of their own given the level of notoriety he's attained since leaving the company.
