The WWE Supplemental Draft takes place tomorrow at 11 a.m. CT. I'll be covering the picks here on Dot Net while providing instant analysis, just as I did last year. In the meantime, here are five moves I'd like to see WWE make during the second part of the annual draft.
1. Mike Knox to Smackdown: He's lost in the shuffle on WWE Raw. However, aside from a lopsided loss to John Cena, they haven't done a lot of damage to his monster (no, I won't say "monstrous" like Michael Cole) image. Vince McMahon still calls the shots on Smackdown, but lead writer Michael Hayes is more old school than Vince and Raw lead writer Brian Gewirtz. Something tells me Hayes would be able to get the most out of Knox.
2. Christian to Smackdown: How can they go through the draft without reuniting Edge and Christian on the same brand? Part of me thinks that Christian is too big of a name to move in the supplemental draft, but there's no telling right now given the lackluster manner in which he's been pushed since he returned to the company earlier this year. Screw the throwaway match between Edge and Christian on the WGN show that they'll probably book just to placate E&C fans. Put these two back together on Smackdown either as allies or enemies.
3. The Miz to ECW: I'm sure there's some phantom rule that prohibits wrestlers who were already drafted on the big show from being moved again in the supplemental draft, but I'd break it in this case. Miz will be lost in the shuffle on Raw. Take a look at the current Raw roster and tell me where he fits in. Sure, he could have a back and forth feud with guys like Kofi Kingston or even MVP, but it's more likely that he'll play the jobber to stars role. I'd rather see him back on ECW as a singles heel. For that matter, I'd rather see John Morrison on Smackdown, but I don't want to get too carried away with moving every young guy to the Friday night show.
4. The Brian Kendrick to ECW: Hell, let him feud with Miz over the use of "The" as part of his name. I don't care what they do with Kendrick as long as they start giving him some semblance of a push again. I dig his current character, but they've clearly pulled back on his push in recent months. If Smackdown doesn't want to push him, then send him to ECW where he can have standout matches with Evan Bourne, Tyson Kidd, and John Morrison.
5. D.H. Smith to Raw: Believe it or not, the son of Davey Boy Smith is still listed on the Smackdown roster even though he hasn't appeared on WWE television since he was sent there in last year's WWE draft. The WWE developmental standout has improved in the ring. There are still questions regarding his charisma and promo ability, but I'd give him a chance by making him the fourth man in the Legacy faction. Of course, I'd actually try to give him, Cody Rhodes, and Ted DiBiase actual identities along the way, but I guess that's just me.
Bonus Pick: Jim Ross and Michael Cole switch brands: The critics have spoken and no one wants to see Cole on Monday nights. They can't give the live show gig to Josh Matthews because there's no way of knowing when he might spontaneously bleed for no reason again, and Todd Grisham has progressed nicely but still doesn't seem ready or live action. If WWE refuses to make this move, then at least move Matt Striker to Smackdown to team with Jim Ross, which might not be such a bad move considering that the Friday night show is sure to feature more in-ring action than the Monday night broadcast.
