Dot Net World Headquarters change locations, thoughts on Undertaker vs. Triple H, Kung Fu Naki, R-Truth, Big Show, Carlito and Primo, Great Khali and Runjin Singh
Oct 25, 2008 - 12:30 PM

Saturday, October 25 – 12:30 P.M. (CT)

-It's official. Dot Net World Headquarters relocated yesterday to an amazing new 10-story office tower. Well, I moved into a new townhouse anyway. The new pad is still filled with boxes that need to be unpacked, but I'm trying to sneak in enough time to catch the Minnesota Gophers vs. Purdue Boilermakers football game before my girlfriend (the real boss at Dot Net World Headquarters) blows a gasket.

Moving sucks and it sure is time consuming. Honestly, though, I'm just happy the new high-speed internet connection was installed without a hitch and the DirecTV installer arrived on time and set me up with about a million channels. Screw my old cable company and their ridiculous prices.

-I watched Smackdown late last night and a few things stood out. For starters, the live crowd didn't seem to care about Undertaker vs. Triple H at first. They sat on their hands during the opening minutes of the match and that really hurt the vibe. The announcers tried to make it seem like a major event, but the live crowd's uninterested reaction made it seem like a battle between two aging stars that the fans don't care about.

Fortunately, the wrestlers woke up the crowd as the match went on and the same fans who weren't even watching the ring during the opening minutes were standing on their feet and enjoying the match.

This match came off better than I expected it to. No one expected a clean finish going in and yet the live crowd seemed to get caught up in the nearfalls down the stretch. There were plenty of groans when Big Show interfered, but he was a logical candidate to spoil the match and beat up the babyfaces. He ticked off the fans by interfering in the match and beat up Taker and Hunter.

-The new Kung Funaki song rocks. I usually cringe when I see gimmicks like this and I probably will when they're still pushing it down our throats long after the thrill has worn off, but this gimmick cracks me up.

Big assist to R-Truth for making the Kung character work. It still amazes me that Ron Killings is able to play such a fun loving character. It still surprises me when he flashes a smile because I don't remember him looking like he was having any fun during his TNA days. He was always angry and I don't remember the guy smiling back then.

-Runjin Singh is doing a great job as Great Khali's mouthpiece. They didn't give him much to work with Khali was a heel, but both he and Khali have shown plenty of charisma since the apparent babyface turn. That said, I can't help but feel sorry for the overweight women who become the butt of the kiss-cam joke.

-Dot Net Smackdown reviewer Chris Shore summed it up well when he wrote: "The Hurrapop? What the fu…" Hurricane Helms is doing what he can with these short segments, but the entire popup video vibe is really dated.

-I got a kick out of Carlito obliviously cock-blocking his younger brother Primo. However, with all the comedy on last night's show, it made me wonder whether Raw lead writer Brian Gewirtz was filling in for Michael Hayes this week. I enjoyed most of the comedy this week, but I hope it's not a sign that Smackdown is going to incorporate more of the sports entertainment elements that have made Raw my least favorite WWE show in recent months.

-Halftime is here. Time to unpack some boxes so I can enjoy the second half of the game. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow when I get to kick back and enjoy the greatness that is the NFL Sunday Ticket.
