Steve Austin thoughts, an update on the fans who were kicked out of WWE Raw last week for displaying questionable signs
By Jason Powell Oct 6, 2008 - 12:27 PM

Monday, October 6 – 12:27 P.M. (CT)

-Steve Austin is still being advertised on the American Airway Arena website. This is hardly new news, but with the Cyber Sunday pay-per-view less than three weeks away, WWE will most likely kick off the hype for for his appearance this week on WWE television.

Austin's recent appearances have primarily taken place on WWE Raw. Yet with there being some question regarding whether Raw is truly the flagship show at the moment due to Smackdown's move to MyNetwork TV, I can't help but wonder whether his return appearance will take place on the Friday night show.

Don't get me wrong, Raw could use a spark. Last week's show was downright boring to watch on television unless you're a big fan of DX. There were some other decent moments here and there, but the Raw side of things just isn't as lively as the Smackdown side. At the same time, WWE might feel it's more important to get viewers watching Smackdown on its new network home.

Honestly, I'm more interested in finding out what Austin's role at the pay-per-view will be than what brand he makes his television appearances on. Austin's recent appearances for the company just haven't packed much punch. The fans always pop for him and they still enjoy watching him deliver a series of Stunners, but he just hasn't had a storyline he can really sink his teeth into.

-A big thanks to Brian Fritz of BetweenTheRopes.com for joining me in the WWE No Mercy pay-per-view recap audio last night. Fritz and I discussed every aspect of the pay-per-view and spent additional time discussing where the company should go from here. You can listen to the extended audio update and get all the perks of Dot Net membership instantly for only $5 per month by visiting the Dot Net Members' Signup Page.

-There was a happy ending to the story I wrote about last week involving two fans who were kicked out of the WWE Raw show for holding up fan signs that were deemed inappropriate by WWE security. I was told that someone from the WWE office contacted one of the fans I mentioned in my Thursday blog and discussed the matter at length.

In fact, they spent roughly an hour discussing the situation and the company agreed to give the two fans free tickets to a future show to make it up to them. It's good to know that persistence pays off. Here's hoping the complaints will cause WWE officials to lighten up a little when it comes to confiscating tame fan signs.
