Pro wrestling fans are buzzing over the staredown between Brock Lesnar and Undertaker that took place after the UFC 121 pay-per-view on Saturday. Was it legit tension? Were they planting seeds for a huge WrestleMania match?

My guess is the latter. Either way, Vince McMahon should send Brock Lesnar a giant fruit basket and flowers for getting people talking about his company on a day that the Bragging Rights pay-per-view is expected to bomb due to stiff competition from the NFL and other factors.

For what it's worth, Lesnar left Anaheim on Saturday night. WWE Bragging Rights takes place in Lesnar's home state of Minnesota. I'm not getting my hopes for a surprise appearance tonight either, but if nothing else it's fun to consider how huge Brock's return to WWE would be.

Taker putting his WrestleMania winning streak on the line against the former UFC and WWE Champion would be huge on so many levels. The media buzz would be huge. Sure, the feedback would be extremely negative, as most mainstream sports writers would blast Lesnar for returning to WWE for a match.

You know, just like the same media types ripped Quinton "Rampage" Jackson for taking time away from his MMA career to be part of that silly, scripted, and fake A-Team movie. Oh wait, they didn't rip Rampage.

Of course, the negative reaction of the media would be just what WWE would be looking for. The sports writers might rip Brock and WWE, but the key is that they would be talking about Brock and WWE. Honestly, I'm more interested in what Dana White's reaction would be to Brock working a WWE angle at a UFC show than the predictable response from the vast majority of mainstream media types.

Before we get too carried away, though, it's worth noting that we have no idea whether such a plan is in the works or if Lesnar is even contractually free to return to WWE for a match. WWE wants the match, and it looked like Lesnar was playing along last night since I've never heard of lingering heat between Lesnar and Taker.

For what it's worth, Brock wouldn't rule out a return to WWE when I interviewed him back in June of 2008. He was training for his second UFC fight at the time and had yet to win a UFC fight let alone become the UFC Heavyweight Champion. At the time, I wondered whether he was just being open minded just in case the MMA career flamed out.

"You know, I have no idea," Lesnar said when I asked him whether he'd consider returning to WWE at some point. "I will definitely never end up back on the road again, I know that. Would I sometime like some type of business adventure with the company? Maybe. Whether it's a book or a one time match or a one-time feud, whatever. Obviously, I don't work for peanuts, and everything has to fall into place."

Brock also had kind words for Vince McMahon. "It would be nice to chat with him," said Lesnar. "I don't have any hard feelings. I enjoyed my time with the company. There were just certain things that I didn't enjoy."

I also asked Lesnar about losing his passion for pro wrestling: "I lived and breathed the mere fact of becoming a pro wrestler," he said. I lived it, and I wanted to be one. I was sitting in a locker room one day, and I've said this before, looked around at a number of different guys that had been in the business a long time and I realized that I did not want to become like those guys."

However, Lesnar did not express any regrets over the way his final match against Bill Goldberg went down. "No, not at all," he said when I asked if he had any regrets about the way he left the company. "I can't change how people think about me, especially in that aspect.

"We had a match and everyone knew the outcome, I wasn't going to be around, Bill wasn't going to be around, and Steve (Austin) wasn't going to be around, so why should these fans put any time into us in the ring. So, no, I don't hold any resentment or anything like that."

Will Brock return to WWE for the mega match? Stay tuned. In the meantime, enjoy the speculation because we don't get many potential mega moments like this in pro wrestling anymore.
