Powell's Blog: A full recap of "The Decision" starring LePaul Heyman

"The Decision" starring LePaul Heyman
Aired on Spike TV on July 8, 2010

The show opened with a video flashback at the career of LePaul Heyman.

In the studio, Jeremy Borash and Taz were joined by esteemed media members Don West, Christy Hemme, and SoCal Val. Borash explained that Heyman is an unrestricted free agent and is free to sign with any wrestling company. He teased that the big decision was just moments away.

Our first shot of LePaul aired from inside the Greenwich Boys & Girls Club. The kids in the background looked either terrified, indifferent, or like someone told them they couldn't play video games or eat ever again unless they sat quietly for an hour.

Graphics were shown of Heyman wearing WWE, TNA, Ring of Honor, and Dragon Gate USA t-shirts. They also showed a shirtless image of Heyman to signify that he could choose life outside pro wrestling. They may have lost some viewers with that last one.

Back inside the studio, Borash asked Taz, West, Hemme, and Val for predictions on where Heyman would end up. Taz was giddy over the idea of his friend and former mentor Heyman joining TNA wrestling. West said his heart said TNA, but his sources were telling him WWE.

Hemme predicted that Heyman would sign with TNA. Val took her shirt off and posed for swimsuit photos. Borash and Taz teased that the big decision was just moments away. [C]

Our second shot of Heyman aired from inside the Greenwich Boys & Girls Club. Mike Tenay was shown sitting across from him making those weird faces that he always makes during sitdown interviews.

Back in the studio, Borash teased that the big decision was just moments away. He asked Taz, West, Hemme, and Val for predictions on where Heyman will end up even thought they did that a few minutes earlier. Borash teased the big decision was coming up right after the break. [C]

Borash said it was finally time to go to the Boys & Girls Club for the big decision. First, though, he asked Taz, Hemme, and Val for their predictions on where Heyman will end up, and then they showed shots of Heyman wearing the various company t-shirts again. [C]

Borash said it was now time to turn things over to Mike Tenay at the Boys & Girls Club.

Tenay cut right to the chase and asked LePaul about the weather, his children, the last concert he attended, what kind of car he's driving, whether he's a Coke or Pepsi drinker, and had him cut a 30-second promo about rainbows. [C]

After the break, Tenay said the big decision was just moments away. He asked LePaul for his thoughts on global warming, whether Brett Favre will return for another season, and whether he's on Team Edward or Team Jacob. "Um, Kevin Thorn? Bite clubs? Hello!" Heyman responded.

Tenay mentioned that it was time for LePaul to announce his big decision. First, he wanted to know when he made the decision. Heyman claimed he reached the decision earlier in the day. Tenay asked whether Heyman had informed the company he's joining. LePaul said he had informed them moments ago. [C]

Finally, Tenay asked which company LePaul will be joining. "I'm going to take my talents to Stamford and I'm going to the WWE," LePaul said. "I feel like this is going to be the best opportunity, not just this year, but in multiple years."

A shot aired of WWE fans rejoicing in Stamford. Meanwhile, TNA fans were shown burning trench coats and oversized cell phones on the streets of Orlando.

Back at the club, LePaul excused himself for a moment and entered something on his mobile device. Oddly enough, at the same time on WGN America's live WWE Superstars special, the email chime sounded and the lights flickered. Michael Cole stood up and read an announcement from the anonymous Raw general manager.
