Tuesday, JULY 3 - 10:23 A.M.
-The ratings increase for Tuesday's ECW on Sci-Fi has to be considered good news for C.M. Punk even though he's no longer on the show. One can only assume that ratings for the show increased due to the buzz over Punk winning the World Hvt. Title the night before. Sources continue to say that ratings and merchandise success will be the key in whether Punk gets an extended run with the strap.
-Has anyone else noticed that ROH alums Punk and Samoa Joe are holding World Title belts for two different companies? This certainly isn't lost on ROH officials, who are wisely trying to capitalize on the success of their former wrestlers. The company is touting a list of DVDs that include some of Punk's finest work, and they've done a nice job of trying to use their success to give rub to the current roster. Check out the story they posted on their website titled "An Elite Club".
-I'd love to tell you what the main event for tonight's TNA Impact is. Unfortunately, the TNA website has yet to offer an official preview for their show. Did the holiday weekend start early for the web team? I don't want to come down too hard on them because I hear the company hasn't been eager to pump money into the web side of things, which seems odd to me.
WWE has been going all out to drive traffic to their website, while the buzz is that TNA has been reluctant to pump money into their website. TNA is the No. 2 wrestling company in the United States, but don't be surprised if they have the third best website once Ring of Honor unveils it's new website. That's not a shot against the TNA web team. More than anything, I'm just surprised that TNA doesn't recognize the importance and money making potential of the web.
-Speaking of driving traffic, here are three of the WWE-related questions I asked Brock Lesnar during a one-on-one interview that was conducted last week and is available exclusively to Dot Net Members.
-There were a number of your former wrestling coworkers at your first fight in Las Vegas. Vince McMahon was not among them. Have you had any contact with Vince since you left the company?
-You were a natural at pro wrestling both in the ring and behind the mic, yet things you've said since leaving WWE indicate you were miserable throughout most of your time there. You obviously had some passion for it at one time. What changed?
-Once your MMA fighting career winds down, would you consider returning to WWE on a full-time basis, a part-time basis, or even for a one-off match?

-I ordered WWE 24/7 last weekend was initially thrilled with my purchase. Most of the programming expired on July 1 and I just assumed it would be replaced with new content. No such luck. There's nothing listed in the "Legends" or "Shorties" sections, and the "TV Classics" lists only one hour of programming. "The Big Ones" has the 2007 Vengeance pay-per-view.
Call me crazy, but I thought I'd have access to more than four hours of programing when I signed up for the service. I'm sure it's only temporary, but I wouldn't be surprised if it leads to some cancellations. Stay tuned.
Editor's Note: It sounds like it's a problem with my cable company. I've received several notes from readers around the country who aren't experiencing any problems with their 24/7 service.
-Gee, I can't believe Brett Funk, er, Favre is thinking about returning for another season. I've told you guys all along that I think he'll be back on the field this season. I knew part of my speculation was just the paranoid Viking fan in me, but I laughed and rolled my eyes when the ESPN reports surfaced yesterday. I'm fine with Favre coming back for another season because I enjoy the rivalry so much, but there's no denying that the man has become a serious drama queen late in his career.
-Have a great holiday weekend!
