WWE Survivor Series Hits

John Cena vs. Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels: The Sweet Chin Music kick that opened the match was fantastic. It was the perfect way to get the crowd involved right from the start. The fans appeared to be settling in for the opening of the match and HBK woke them up immediately. The overall match was really well done with all three guys getting their moments to shine. The most interesting part of the match was clearly whenever Hunter and Shawn were working against one another. I'm already looking forward to seeing how they follow up tonight on Raw. Overall, an excellent pay-per-view main event.

Team Kingston vs. Team Orton: I was convinced that Kofi was going to pin Punk and then eat an RKO from Randy. I figured Kofi would still look strong since he pinned Punk and wouldn't have seen the RKO coming. Rather, WWE took an even better approach by having Kofi win a hard fought battle with Punk only to catch Orton with the Trouble in Paradise kick. The finish was a pleasant surprise to a strong match that helped Kofi take another step toward becoming a star.

Team Miz vs. Team Morrison: I was surprised to see Dolph Ziggler eliminated so quickly, but it was good to see WWE remain consistent with the pushes they're giving Miz, Sheamus, and Drew McIntyre. Sheamus looked like a badass in this match, and all three wrestlers were spotlighted nicely. Meanwhile, John Morrison didn't lose anything by losing in a situation where he was outnumbered by the heels. Good action from start to finish.

Undertaker vs. Big Show vs. Chris Jericho: They had the unenviable task of getting the crowd up again after the hot finish with Kofi pinning Punk and Randy. It took some time, but the live crowd was definitely into the action by mid-match. Good work all around. It was also nice to see WWE creative show some restraint by not booking another World Title change. I can't say I'm crazy about the current champions, but it's more important to make the title belts seem valuable again by not booking title changes every other month.

Batista vs. Rey Mysterio: There was nothing particularly surprising about this match. It was pretty much what you'd expect in terms of Mysterio hitting a nice flurry of offense early, but ultimately being crushed by Batista. It wasn't a memorable match on a show loaded with good in-ring work, but it makes Batista look strong heading into an eventual program with Undertaker.

Overall show: Obviously, a strong show. It was an anti-Raw pay-per-view in that the company took itself seriously and presented a straight forward wrestling product rather than a campy variety show. Unfortunately, the teasers for the three-hour Raw with the past foot fight footage tells me that we're in for some serious campiness tonight.

WWE Survivor Series Misses

Team Mickie vs. Team McCool: It's frustrating to watch WWE uses it's women's division as time filler or as pay-per-view buffer matches. This match was filled with random rapid fire pinfalls. There were no surprises. Who didn't know that Michelle McCool would be the final member of her team in the ring? If she didn't win, you knew Mickie James and/or Melina would would get the nod. There are plenty of talented women in this division and it's a shame that WWE officials don't put their talent to better use.
