I have a lot more to say about this show in the 57-minute TNA Bound For Glory audio recap, which is available exclusively to Dot Net Members. TNA Bound For Glory Hits

Ultimate X: There were some unnecessary bumps during the match (Daniels big bump was insane), but the overall match was a blast. This was the highlight of the night for many viewers. My only complaint is that this match does not belong in the opening match on any show. The Ultimate X match is the best concept match the company has come up with. If the company put the time in and established characters that people care about and got the title belt over, this match could be the selling point and main event of a pay-per-view event.

Kurt Angle vs. Matt Morgan: This match was key in this show earning my positive review. If this match failed to deliver, the lull that was there in the middle of the show would have continued. Instead, Angle and Morgan delivered the best actual wrestling match (it's not fair to compare it to Ultimate X) of the night. It was as if they anticipated the live crowd's reaction to Morgan, as the finish played in perfectly in the sense that Angle endorsed Morgan and got the crowd to applaud him.

We know Angle can have great matches with just about anyone. Morgan held up his end of the bargain, but the key now for him is to prove that he can have strong matches with other wrestlers on the roster. By the way, the Angle we saw Sunday night is the money Angle. He should be portrayed as a serious athlete and not the comedic heel who claims to be the godfather of his faction.

A.J. Styles vs. Sting: A quality main event with an anticlimactic finish. The finish wasn't horrible, but it was disappointing in the sense that everything that led up to it was solid and then the finish just fell a little flat. The post-match angle with Styles calling Sting back for his speech was very well done and was an excellent way to cap off the show.

Overall Show: This was my favorite TNA pay-per-view event of the Sunday night era. The wrestlers all stepped it up a notch and creative didn't bog them down with overbooked matches or cheap finishes. This show was all about youth and the creative direction appears to be more sport-like. That's exactly what I've been looking for out of TNA and I hope that carries over throughout the year and isn't just something they were doing for their big show.

Full Metal Mayhem Tag: Scott Steiner was awesome in this match. It's not something you can do with him on a regular basis, but it was fun to see him bust out those big suplexes and the Frankensteiner. It was a crowd-pleasing match and I'm giving it a hit for that reason even though I thought there was too much emphasis placed on Team 3D rather than the younger wrestlers. The spotlight should have been on Beer Money and the British Invasion, not the older guys. By the way, the masses don't give a damn about the IWGP Tag Titles.

ODB vs. Awesome Kong vs. Tara: A decent match. The Kim Couture spot fell flat. The production team didn't get a good shot of her and the announcers acting like they didn't know who she was made this feel more clumsy than interesting. The finish with Raisha Saeed costing Kong the match appears to be setting up the end of their alliance (and hopefully a big push for Alissa Flash).

TNA Bound For Glory Misses

Abyss vs. Mick Foley: A minor hit. Both wrestlers worked hard and delivered the best hardcore match they could. I just can't give a hit to a match that felt so dated, nor did I care for seeing Daffney go through barbwire. It was nice to see Foley put over Abyss. Apparently, he passed the torch and now Abyss is the king of hardcore. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean anything these days.

Bobby Lashley vs. Samoa Joe: The atmosphere was fun in that the live crowd didn't go along with the company's idea of pushing Lashley as the babyface and Joe as the heel. The finish was weak and no one other than Kristal Lashley seemed happy to see it. TNA has to realize there's only so hard they can push a fighter who most likely won't be around the for the long haul.

Taylor Wilde and Sarita vs. Velvet Sky and Madison Rayne: Too short. I don't know if they had time shaved because the show was running long, but this was a Raw-like rush job.

Eric Young vs. Kevin Nash vs. Hernandez: Was Nash sick or injured last night? He was just moving at a snail's pace and even his promo before the match was bland. I'm still not a fan of Young being shoved down our throats, but the decision has been made and therefore I get the idea of putting the title on him. Unfortunately, no one cares about the TNA Legends Championship and I don't think he can do much for the value of the title, nor can the title give him a boost. It's just a shame that TNA didn't do more to spotlight Hernandez on their biggest show of the year.
