WWE Raw Hitlist: DX attacked by Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes, final hype for Randy Orton vs. John Cena, Freddie Prinze Jr. as guest host, The Miz vs. Evan Bourne, Mickie James vs. Gail Kim

Dot Net Members are listening to over 60 minutes of new audio that was posted late last night and early this morning. Rich Twilling's posted a 20-minute audio recap of last night's ROH debut on Monday night, and I posted a 45-minute audio review of last night's Raw. I will also be recording a news update audio with the latest on TNA and much more later today. WWE Raw Hits

DX attacked by Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase: The heels attack the babyfaces and get heat heading into the pay-per-view. So simple, yet so effective. This actually feels like a match now rather than just a DX showcase. I'm sure it will still be all about DX, but at least they got me excited about the actual match. Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase needed this. Here's hoping DX gives them enough offense at the pay-per-view so that they come out of SummerSlam stronger than they went in. Sure, it's probably wishful thinking, but last night was a step in the right direction.

Freddie Prinze Jr. A very pleasant surprise. Sure, we knew he was a longtime WWE fan, but that didn't guarantee he'd be good in this role. Prinze was great! The Santino skit at the beginning of the show was funny, and Prinze was excellent on the stick. I agree with what Jim Ross wrote in his blog regarding Prinze being second only to Shaquille O'Neal in the best guest host race.

Kofi Kingston vs. Carlito: I like the pairing of Carlito with Rosa Mendes, as the latter was just wasting away with Beth Phoenix. That pairing was promising at first with teases of a Santino live triangle, but nothing ever came of it. The actual match between Kofi and Carlito was solid and I'd like to see a rematch between the two at the pay-per-view. Better yet, how about Kofi vs. The Miz?

The Miz vs. Evan Bourne: A fun match. I hate to see Bourne lose yet another Raw match, but there was really good action while it lasted. I like Miz's new look because it makes him look more professional, yet it's flashy enough that he still stands out.

MVP vs. Jack Swagger: Actually, their 90-second match was a letdown, but I'm thrilled to see this match added to the pay-per-view lineup. Two of my favorites added to the show on the same day Brett Favre signs with the Vikings and jacks up the value of the Packers vs. Vikings tickets I bought just in case. I'm buying a Powerball ticket today. Everything is coming up Millhouse!

Overall show: It wasn't the home run episode they needed in terms of delivering a final sales pitch for SummerSlam, but it was a major upgrade over the previous episode. I wish they'd give the mid-card wrestlers more time in the ring because guys like Jack Swagger, MVP, Kofi Kingston, Carlito, The Miz, and Evan Bourne are capable of delivering some great in-ring action.

WWE Raw Misses

John Cena vs. Randy Orton hype: Cena's promo was funny and the live crowd loved him, but this match needed an intense final sales pitch. The main event of Raw was entertaining, but nothing about this show made me want to order the pay-per-view to see Cena vs. Orton. It feels like any other pay-per-view title match, not a huge SummerSlam main event.

Mickie James vs. Gail Kim: Wow. What a letdown. I expected greatness from these two and instead we got an awkward final 30 seconds. Here's hoping WWE creative lets them get right back in the saddle and try again because we all know they're capable of having a much better match than they did last night.
