WWE Night of Champions Hitlist: Jeff Hardy beats C.M. Punk to win the World Hvt. Championship, Randy Orton vs. Triple H vs. John Cena for the WWE Title, Big Show revealed as Chris Jericho's tag partner

WWE Night of Champions Hits:

Jeff Hardy vs. C.M. Punk: This was easily the best match of the night. The live crowd was dead for most of the show, but they came to life for Hardy, who sent them home happy and saved the show for some viewers. That said, I'm not a fan of the title change. More on that in the "Misses" section.

Kofi Kingston vs. Jack Swagger vs. Carlito vs. Primo vs. The Miz vs. MVP: Good action from bell to bell. Everyone worked hard and the rapid fire near falls were fun.

Rey Mysterio vs. Dolph Ziggler: I enjoyed the actual match, but I considered giving this a "Miss" due to the fact that the fans didn't care about Ziggler. Sure, it was a tough crowd, but Dolph says his own name and bangs Maria in backstage closets. That's all we know about the guy. WWE gave that useless promo to Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes right before his match. Why not give that mic time to Ziggler and let him heel on the crowd? Nevertheless, I enjoyed the match and still have high hopes for Dolph.

Michelle McCool vs. Melina: The crowd didn't give a damn about the match, but I give both women credit for an impressive performance. That said, the finish was awkward in that Melina hit a big move only to be pinned by McCool.

WWE Night of Champions Misses

World Hvt. Title change: Hardy winning the title saved the show for some viewers, but I don't like the idea of yet another major title change. This is the 10th time the title has changed hands in the last 12 months. Granted, there were some rapid fire title changes via the Money in the Bank concept, but this is getting ridiculous. The titles mean less with every change, and it feels like WWE is more concerned with making sure they're pay-per-view events have special moments via title changes than protecting the prestige of the belts.

Randy Orton vs. Triple H vs. John Cena: WWE failed to make this feel like a special match. Perhaps that was by design given the clunky finish they came up with. The fact that this match aired even before the Intercontinental Title match tells me that WWE officials knew the finish was lousy. Sure, the finish was creative, but it didn't make any sense that Orton could tap out and not be eliminated from the match. Wouldn't the logical move be to throw Orton out of the match and then have Hunter and Cena battle to become the new champion? Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the title should have changed hands. I'm just questioning the logic of the finish they went with. By the way, the crowd's lack of response to this match should tell WWE officials that fans are bored with seeing the same three guys in the title chase.

Big Show and Chris Jericho: WWE also had to know this was going to be a letdown since they had this match open the show. I'll guarantee there were fans who ordered this show to find out who the mystery man would be. There was more online buzz about the mystery man heading into the show than anything. I didn't expect a major surprise and I never really had my hopes up for anything special, but the Big Show reveal was still a big disappointment.

Christian vs. Tommy Dreamer: Just a minor miss. There was nothing really wrong with the match aside from the fact that it felt like I'd seen it before.

Mickie James vs. Maryse: This was the worst match on the show. I'm happy to see Mickie get the title back, but I was hoping for more from these two.
