WWE Raw Hits
Triple H and John Cena vs. Legacy: A decent main event that brought the crowd back to life. They were awfully proud that they didn't take the typical path of having Hunter and Cena meltdown heading into the Triple Threat match. Unfortunately, taking this approach didn't get me excited about their pay-per-view match. Sometimes taking the predictable approach isn't such a bad idea. By the way, how many times do they have to remind us that Randy Orton is vulnerable by having him lose a match or have the hell beat out of him? Nevertheless, a solid main event to close the show.
Kofi Kingston, MVP, and Primo vs. Big Show, Jack Swagger, and Carlito: I'm not sure why they didn't just go with the six wrestlers who will make up the six-pack challenge they've added to the pay-per-view, but there was some fun action down the stretch. I also liked the way they made Big Show look like a badass by having him beat up everyone after the match.
Mark Henry vs. Chris Jericho: I really enjoy what they're doing with Mark Henry. I still think there's only so far they'll go with a babyface on a show that features Triple H and John Cena, but at least they're giving Henry a solid push. Jericho played his part well and the DQ finish plays into the heels taking shortcuts to avoid fighting Henry. Bonus points to Jericho for his line to Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase about Randy Orton possibly being his partner at the pay-per-view.
WWE Raw Misses
ZZ Top: Horrible backstage segments. I like the band and their music, but I also know they didn't click with the target demographic. I figured someone would wear the beard, but I didn't know they'd go with the same joke throughout the show. Worse yet, I think we've all watched Santino dance in his underwear (or women's clothing) more than enough for one lifetime.
Triple H and John Cena clown around: The mood was way too light in the opening segment and throughout the show considering there's a pay-per-view on Sunday that features a rematch of a the Triple Threat title match from WrestleMania 24. Orton vs. Hunter vs. Cena should have been treated like a major event, but it just felt like they opted for the comedy route instead of building this up as a huge pay-per-view main event. Sure, there were some funny moments, but none that left me eagerly anticipating Sunday's show.
Hornswoggle vs. Chavo Guerrero: I give credit to Chavo for making the most of the match with his penguin walk in the one-legged pants. It got a laugh out of me. That said, this was another example of filler on a show that needed to deliver strong hype for Sunday's pay-per-view.
Gail Kim and Kelly Kelly vs. Rosa Mendes and Alicia Fox: And this did what for the pay-per-view? I'm not saying everything should have been geared toward the pay-per-view, but why not include Mickie James and/or Maryse in this match (and do the spray angle afterward) since they're actually on Sunday's show?
Jerry Lawler vs. The Brian Kendrick: The theme of this week's Hitlist continues, as this just felt like another meaningless time killer. I hate seeing Kendrick wasted on Raw. If they don't have anything for him, then why didn't they send him to ECW (via the trade) where his in-ring talent could have been put to better use?
