TNA Impact Hitlist: Sting vs. Samoa Joe, Scott Steiner vs. A.J. Styles, Mick Foley and Jeff Jarrett bicker, Scott Steiner invites Jarrett to join the Main Event Mafia with Kurt Angle's blessing

Dot Net Members will be listening to roughly two hours of new audio today, as I will be joined by Brian Fritz of BetweenTheRopes.com to discuss the WrestleMania 25 pay-per-view. Plus, Rich Twilling and I will discuss WrestleMania, Tazz's decision to leave WWE, last night's Impact, and the news of the week in the Dot Net Weekly show. You can gain access to all Dot Net Audio on the ad-free version of the site for only $5 by visiting the Dot Net Members' Signup Page.
TNA Impact Hits
Scott Steiner invites Jeff Jarrett to join the MEM: An interesting segment that I didn't see coming. I could easily give this segment a Miss because it seemed awkward for Jarrett to even consider the offer given everything he's been through with Angle, and because I'm not crazy about the idea of them mentioning Jill Jarrett in the promo. I respect the fact that Jarrett is comfortable with including her name, but that doesn't mean it's comfortable for the viewers. That being said, it was a nice twist that could turn into a long-term storyline if TNA opts to tease a Jarrett turn.
Mick Foley: I'm digging the unstable Foley character and the way he's squabbling with Jarrett. It's been nice to see him abandon the happy-go-lucky Foley character in favor of the unstable version of his persona lately. His promo about no longer being a settler helps create the perception that he's not just a part-time wrestler heading into his title match at Lockdown.
Team 3D and Beer Money: I'm enjoying the build for their pay-per-view match. The serious approach taken by Beer Money is a fun shift, and the Rough Cut segments with Team 3D are the best the company has delivered to date. The primary reason I enjoy these Rough Cut segments is because Team 3D don't feel like they're abandoning their television personas. It was frustrating to watch past Rough Cut segments with wrestlers dropping their heel acts for their clips and then acting like heels again in the very next in-ring segment. TNA deserves credit for building up their tag title match better than WWE has done with the WrestleMania tag title unification match.
Dr. Stevie: I know the segment in which he attacked Abyss didn't click for everyone based on the comments I read in the Dot Net Members' Forum last night, but it was nice to see Stevie Richards do something other than sit there on the couch and take notes. It adds a new dynamic to his character and his relationship with Abyss.
Daffney: Goodbye Governor! Enough said.
TNA Impact Misses
Samoa Joe vs. Sting: More of the same from Joe. His character has taken a major turn for the worse. He should be one of the most over acts in the company, but the live crowd sat on their hands when he made his entrance. It was odd to hear the crowd cheer the champion who represents the Main Event Mafia and give zero reaction to Joe. TNA should stop being stubborn. It's time to give up on the giant f'n Rambo knife and get him back on track.
Jenna Morasca: I'm not sure why TNA thinks anyone would care about a Survivor contestant whose character is smitten with Kevin Nash. You can't blame her for taking the gig, but her wrestling career is off to a rocky start.
Taylor Wilde vs. Madison Rayne: The post-match bit with Wilde slipping away from Rayne and the Beautiful People was horrible. All this haircutting makes me wonder which one of the Beautiful People has agreed to go Roxxi on the bit.
Team 3D vs. Main Event Mafia Security: Viewers haven't been given any reason to take Mafia Security seriously. Great, they're big. They're also winless in limited in-ring action.
Overall show: There was just too much going on this week and not nearly enough of the action occurred inside the ring. TNA has improved greatly over the last month, but they still have to learn to slow down and stop trying to cram so much into every show. Despite this ongoing problem, I am looking forward to the Lockdown pay-per-view more than any TNA offering since Bound For Glory. The build for most of the matches has been strong and this feels like a major event by TNA standards.
