TNA Genesis Hitlist: Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Jarrett II, Mick Foley returns to the ring for the TNA Frontline, Alex Shelley faces tag partner Chris Sabin for the X Division Title

TNA Genesis Hits
Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Jarrett: The second match in their series lacked the genuine emotion of their first match, which was Jarrett's return to the ring after a roughly two-year hiatus. Nevertheless, these two worked their tails off and delivered a great brawl that lived up to the hype. I was disappointed by the injury angle after the match because that probably means Jarrett will be keeping a limited schedule in the months ahead.
Alex Shelley vs. Chris Sabin: It's a shame that the hype for this match wasn't stronger because these two put on the best X Division Title match in years. This is what the X Division was once about and must get back to. Forget all the campy comedy gimmicks, let these guys wrestle. There wasn't much on this show to be excited about, yet I still gave my approval for replay orders due to this match and Angle vs. Jarrett. I hope we look back on this match as the key moment in the relaunch of the X Division.
Mick Foley: A slight thumbs up. It was painful to watch him lumber through the match because all those years of bumps clearly took their toll on the hardcore legend. That said, he did enough to keep the live crowd happy and added some star power to the show.
Hernandez: I didn't agree with the decision to have Homicide lose first, but I love the way the match served as a showcase for Hernandez. An effective opening match that put the spotlight on Hernandez heading into his future TNA Title match.
Overall show: The show felt low budget more often than not and this was not a consistently entertaining show from start to finish. That said, the heavily hyped Angle vs. Jarrett match was very well done, and the X Division match was a nice surprise. I'm not surprised they had a good match, but I didn't know what to expect given the way the buildup featured the two of them mocking the X Division Title. This was a two-match show with a lot of clunker moments, yet it was still significantly better than the last two TNA pay-per-view offerings.
TNA Genesis Misses
Cute Kip in the main event: TNA deserves some leeway here because they didn't find out until late in the day that Kevin Nash was out of the main event. That being said, I would have made a quick change to the match order. TNA had to know that the last two matches on the show couldn't measure up to Angle vs. Jarrett, so they should have blew off the idea of ending the pay-per-view on a happy note in favor of sending the fans off with a true main event match by putting Angle vs. Jarrett on last.
Sting vs. Rhino: A lousy match. I know Sting is battling a knee injury, but the time has come to take the title belt off him. The TNA Title belt has never meant less in TNA than it does right now. Part of that is due to the way the company has positioned the belt since Sting won it, but the bottom line is that he can't deliver the type of matches worthy of a World Title.
Shane Sewell: He tried hard, but the gimmick just isn't clicking. I was actually looking forward to the match last night, but I found myself groaning when they teased the Sewell vs. Booker T feud.
ODB, Roxxi, and Taylor Wilde vs. Sojourner Bolt, Raisha Saeed, and Rhaka Khan: A lousy match. The only person over in the match was ODB. The match was thrown together at the last minute and I'm sympathetic given the circumstances, but there's no way to justify putting Rhaka Khan in the ring. She's a lousy wrestler and she should be left at ringside.
