WWE Raw Hitlist: Randy Orton, John Cena, Batista, John Morrison and The Miz, Chris Jericho, Kane has a crush on Kelly Kelly, The Legacy, Sim Snuka, Tomko works a dark match
By Jason Powell Dec 16, 2008 - 11:45 AM

WWE Raw Hits

Randy Orton: I don't see much in the way of chemistry between Orton and the other members of The Legacy yet, but hopefully that will develop over time. Orton was the star of Monday's show. His intense stare and his slow walks to the ring are haunting. Orton has turned it up a notch since he came back from the collarbone injury and he's emerged as one of the top stars on Raw.

John Cena and Batista vs. The Legacy: Good main event match with plenty of star power. Orton definitely got his heat back last night and the punt kick on Batista reaffirmed his status as the most ruthless heel on the Raw roster. Chris Jericho comes across like an arrogant manipulator, while Orton is just plain sadistic. I enjoy both characters and it's refreshing to see the top two heels on Raw have different and distinct personality traits.

Kane and Kelly Kelly: I had a lot of fun mocking these skits in my "Live Coverage" report last night because they were comically bad at times (see Kelly's attempt to hide in a corner from Kane). However, the mystery of which wrestler will be revealed as Kelly's on-air boyfriend is a nice hook.

Chris Jericho: Great bit with Jericho refusing to face Jim Duggan. Jericho played his part well and Duggan always delivers the good puppy dog face. I have a bad feeling about Cryme Tyme walking off with Duggan. I'm going to spend the week mentally preparing myself for whatever campy comedy big they've come up with for this. By the way, the backstage bit with Jericho and Stephanie McMahon was also solid. Speaking of Steph, am I the only who notices that she is continuously making decisions that benefit The Legacy?

John Morrison and The Miz vs. C.M. Punk and Kofi Kingston: An entertaining match that received plenty of time. It was also refreshing to see the heels score a clean pinfall. Although I enjoyed the match, I wasn't crazy about everything involving Miz and Morrison last night. more on that below.

WWE Raw Misses

John Morrison and The Miz: This isn't a knock on WWE's best tag team. Rather, it's a criticism of the company for not doing more to put over their tag title win at the house show on Saturday. Sure, they aired still shot photos and discussed the tag title change, but would it have killed them to give these guys some promo time to let them put over the win properly? I'm guessing they'll get that time tonight on ECW, but they should have received promo time on both shows. WWE officials need to wake up and realize that these two could be breakout stars if they were featured properly and pushed consistently.

Sim Snuka: It was cool to see him abandon the Deuce gimmick, but the black shirt and black trunks made him look like a wrestler straight off the indy scene.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Santa Claas: We know Ziggler's name because he reminds us before the match, during the match, and after the match. The line scores some heat from the live crowds, but there has to be more to this guy's character. By the way, I am bored by the Charlie Haas impersonation gimmick and I wish they'd limit his appearances so that it means more when he actually has a good impersonation.

Tomko debuts in a Raw dark match: I know I wasn't the only person who was hopeful that he would be part of a faction with Edge and Christian Cage on Smackdown. I'm happy to see him back in WWE, but I hope the company will reconsider and move him over to the Smackdown brand. After all, the character he played so well in TNA is very similar to the character Batista played in Evolution.
