WWE "ECW on SciFi" Hitlist: Vladimir Kozlov in ECW, John Morrison and The Miz face Jimmy Wang Yang and Kung Fu Naki, Mark Henry and Tony Atlas, Boogeyman squash
By Jason Powell Dec 10, 2008 - 09:17 AM

WWE "ECW on SciFi Hits

Vladimir Kozlov on ECW: I don't know if this is a permanent move, but I like the idea of Kozlov going to ECW where he can challenge Matt Hardy and work longer matches while improving his skills on a weekly basis. If he moves to ECW full time then it has to be considered a demotion given the high hopes that WWE officials had for him, but I think it would be a wise move that could help him over the long haul.

Opening segment: I wasn't sure where they were going with the Tommy Dreamer promo, but Kozlov's attack was well done and the followup with Swagger taking the cheap shot at Dreamer was excellent. I was surprised that the live crowd was so quiet when Swagger came out. Zero heat.

John Morrison and The Miz: They're cockier than ever with the two Slammy Awards and I loved it when they brought the awards to the ring with them. Their match with Jimmy Wang Yang and Kung Fu Naki went on longer than it needed to, but Morrison and Miz make the Tuesday night show worth watching.

WWE "ECW on SciFi Misses

Vladimir Kozlov's mic skills: What the hell did he say? I'm a big advocate of managers in pro wrestling, but Vince McMahon considers them to be too "Seventies Rasslin." However, Kozlov is a clearly a '70s heel throwback, so why not complete the act by giving him a manager speak for him?

Mark Henry scolds Tony Atlas: I wasn't a big advocate of WWE hiring Atlas to serve as Henry's manager simply because Atlas isn't a good talker. However, I must admit that he adds something to Henry's act. Henry can do the talking for himself, but I get a kick out of Tony's sleeveless look at ringside and his interference helps Henry's matches. I can live with some bickering between these two, but I hope this wasn't the beginning of the end for Atlas in ECW.

Boogeyman squash: Honestly, what's the point? I must admit that I'm not a fan of the character. It's just the same thing week in and week out, and it never leads to anything new.

Overall show: Based on the ratings, ECW is the best kept secret in WWE most weeks. The show generally features longer matches and basic storylines. However, this week's episode featured a couple of forgettable matchups that I didn't want to see go on as long as they did. It wasn't a terrible show, but it was weak compared to most recent episodes.
