ECW Hits

Matt Hardy vs. Finlay: An excellent television main event and one of the better ECW Title matches in recent memory. It was refreshing to see FInlay work a match without pulling out the shillelagh or working in the comedy spots with Hornswoggle. Here's hoping WWE follows up by giving these two a pay-per-view match at Survivor Series. By the way, Hardy is running out of challengers quickly.

Jack Swagger and John Morrison and The Miz vs. Tommy Dreamer and Cryme Tyme: This was a really good outing for Cryme Tyme. They worked hard and big Shad Gaspard was featured prominently during the match. The continuing saga of Dreamer vs. Swagger was also spotlighted.

Overall show: Another solid outing for ECW. This was a truly no nonsense show with three matches and very little happening outside the ring. Mark Henry's squash match doesn't warrant a hit, but it served its purpose. I'm still impressed that WWE went with a clean finish for the Hardy vs. Finlay match. Overall, a very solid hour of television.

ECW Misses

Matt Striker talks politics: Keep the politics out of the wrestling commentary. I really enjoy Striker's commentary, but I could do without him using his post as a forum to shoot his mouth off about hot button topics. Don't get me wrong, the Al Franken joke (thanks to my buddy Pooch for pointing it out) was funny, but I couldn't care less what Striker or any other WWE broadcaster thinks about same sex civil unions. Something tells me Striker wouldn't be able to speak his mind so freely if Vince McMahon didn't have similar political beliefs. Having said all that, Striker is the most entertaining color commentator in the business today.
