TNA Impact Wrestling Hits

Bully Ray and Sting contract signing: You don't have to like the decision to go with this match at Slammiversary to appreciate the strong build. It had a couple of strong peaks with Sting running through all the things Bully Ray could do to him because those were all the things he planned to do to Bully. They also built nicely to Sting giving the big yes answer regarding Ray agreeing to the No Holds Barred stipulation in exchange for Sting agreeing that he would never challenge for the TNA Title again if he loses the match. A strong segment with the addition of a stipulation that the match desperately needed.

Hernandez vs. Christopher Daniels: A good match that played to the strengths of Hernandez and gave Daniels and Kazarian a chance to ham it up as only they can. James Storm's announcement that he and a partner of his choosing will challenge for the tag titles in a four-way match at Slammiversary means there are at least three guys challenging for the tag titles who would benefit the company more by working as singles wrestlers. Please tell me Storm is bringing in Braden Walker for the anniversary show.

Joseph Park vs. D-Lo Brown: The idea that Brown is still allowed to linger around the biker gang and hasn't been beaten to a bloody pulp instead is ridiculous. Likewise, the fact that no one in TNA has connected the dots on Park becoming Abyss when he sees blood has reached the point of absurdity. Despite all this, the match held my interest because of Park, which is amazing considering he simply did his usual routine.

Velvet Sky vs. Gail Kim: Kim has been working hard lately and carried Sky to a solid television match. I'm not a fan of Kim losing at the same time they are putting over her figure four around the ring post. None of the Knockouts really stand out because it feels like they trades wins and losses and they generally feel inconsequential regardless of who wins.

Overall show: A solid outing. The final segment put the show over the top for me. The build for Slammiversary is coming along nicely and it's been a big improvement over the build to the first two TNA pay-per-views of 2013.

TNA Impact Wrestling Misses

Kenny King vs. Chris Sabin vs. Petey Williams: I was really looking forward this match following the verbal exchange that King and Sabin had the week before. Unfortunately, the wrestlers looked like second class citizens from the start when their entrances weren't shown, and then they delivered a match that seemed more about hitting moves than telling any semblance of a story. There could be money in a King vs. Sabin program, but as excited as I was last week, the finish of this match did nothing to make me feel like a rematch is even needed. Granted, Sabin was not pinned, but King knocked him aside before pinning Williams. Can we please scrap the all three-way match format?

Chavo Guerrero vs. Bobby Roode: A slow and uninspired match. The ring work was solid, but the match had no energy and didn't seem to serve a purpose beyond being a setup for James Storm to spit beer for no reason.

Jay Bradley vs. Christian York: I wanted to like this match, but I didn't really know what I was supposed to feel about Bradley until he cut the heel promo after the match.
