TNA Bound For Glory preview and predictions: Will Jeff Jarrett win his return match? Will Mick Foley be a factor? Will Samoa Joe or Sting leave the pay-per-view as TNA Champion?
By Jason Powell Oct 12, 2008 - 11:33 AM

The following predictions are made without any inside knowledge of the planned match finishes. In other words, I’m guessing just like you are. Check back tonight for Live Coverage of the TNA Bound For Glory pay-per-view.

Samoa Joe vs. Sting for the TNA Title: I love the added stipulation that both men agreed there would be no rematches. Of course, Rocky Balboa and Apollo Creed said the same thing and we all know how that went. Joe should retain the title. Sting doesn't go on the road, so one can only assume that if he does win the strap he would have a short title reign. If Sting captures the strap, I would assume it's step one toward Jeff Jarrett regaining the title.

Jeff Jarrett vs. Kurt Angle with Mick Foley as special guest referee: TNA creative should be applauded. No, really, you read that right. I mean it. They've done a hell of a job with the buildup for this match. Jarrett is delivering the best mic work of his career, and working with Angle essentially guarantees that he'll have a quality match no matter how rusty he is. The addition of Foley to the match is icing on the cake.

I'd have Jarrett lose look impressive, yet lose this match due to the ring rust. I'd have him lose to clean to Angle again next month despite looking better and taking more of the match. I'd have him look dominant in the third match only to lose via outside interference or some heel shenanigans. I'd make the fans truly want to see him win beat Angle, and then I'd deliver in their fourth match, which would be fought inside the steel cage. My guess is that the writers aren't that patient. Jarrett wins with some help from Foley.

Christian Cage vs. A.J. Styles vs. Booker T in a three-way: Will we find out what's inside the briefcase that Sharmell has been carrying around? Does anyone other than me care? It's not like TNA has done a really good job of building intrigue. However, they have done a good job of portraying Cage as the wild card in the old guys, er, veterans vs. young guys feud. I'd like to see them extend the mystery, but I don't think TNA will show much patience here either. Cage wins the match and remains a babyface.

Beer Money vs. Team 3D vs. LAX vs. Abyss and Matt Morgan: Steve "Mongo" McMichael will be the special referee. Nice touch. They just can't put the tag titles on the horrible Abyss tag team. Here's hoping this will be the breakup match that leads to Abyss turning heel, returning to his previous outfit, and revealing that his psychologist is James Mitchell. Beer Money retains in a match that seems more about the match stipulation than the tag titles.

Sheik Abdul Bashir vs. Consequences Creed for the X Division Title: This should be a good match even though it was added to the pay-per-view at the last minute and there's been zero emphasis on the title belt. Horrible buildup.

Taylor Wilde vs. Awesome Kong vs. Roxxi in a three-way for the Knockouts Title: I'm guessing all that time they dedicated to establishing Roxxi as the hardcore chick will lead to a few hardcore spots and a big loss to Kong. I'm all for getting the belt off Wilde even if she doesn't get pinned. This should be a good match.

Steel Asylum match: This is the monthly "let's get everybody on the pay-per-view" match. Prince Justice Brotherhood? Check. Motor City Machine Guns (who belong in the tag title match)? Check. Petey Williams? Check. Sonjay Dutt? Check. Jay Lethal? Check. Rock-in-Rave Infection? Check. Do I care? Nope.

Rhino and ODB and Rhaka Khan vs. Cute Kip and Velvet Sky and Angelina Love in a Knockouts Bimbo Brawl: We're supposed to laugh because Kip is in a bimbo brawl. This match should be good when ODB and Love are in the ring together and not so good when everyone else is involved. I flipped a coin. The heels win.

Final thoughts: TNA did a great job of building up those top two matches. Unfortunately, the TNA Title even felt like an afterthought in the buildup to Joe vs. Sting. This should be a newsworthy show and I'm looking forward to it. Join me during the show for my "Live Coverage" report, and check in a short time later for my audio recap of TNA's biggest pay-per-view event of the year.

I will post a brief 10-minute recap of the show on the ad-based version of the site, and Dot Net Members can look forward to the extended audio recap with between 20 and 30 minutes of additional audio. To gain instant access for only $5 per month, visit the Dot Net Members' Signup Page.
